Although Starfield includes many in-depth tutorials on the game’s mechanics, Bethesda’s new RPG has a few gameplay aspects that aren’t fully explained. Among these unexplained mechanics are Emergency Cuttable Walls that players will occasionally encounter in the game’s open world, which can be potentially confusing to get past. Here is everything you need to know about opening emergency cuttable walls in Starfield, including the best strategies.
Starfield Emergency Cuttable Walls Explained
In your ventures through Starfield’s many planets and solar systems, you will encounter Emergency Cuttable Walls, which can sometimes have loot hidden behind them, open alternative pathways to an objective, or be required to destroy in order to progress. To open the wall, you need to cut the four pins.
The pins are yellowish and are marked with text saying “cut pins” with a nearby arrow pointing in their direction. You must shoot the four pins to open the Emergency Cuttable Walls.
The wisest method to open the Emergency Cuttable Walls is by utilizing a Cutter mining tool or a melee weapon, such as a knife. This will save ammo, which you might need to preserve for future battles against Spacers that could be lying in wait behind the wall. Personally, I used Heller’s Cutter, one of the most powerful weapons of its kind available in Starfield.
In a clockwise order, start by cutting the first pin…
Followed by the second pin…
Then the third pin…
And lastly, the fourth pin…
Cutting the four pins will cause the wall to collapse, opening the blocked path and revealing what is behind the barrier.
