Netherite armor is a direct upgrade from diamond. With that in mind, it makes sense that you’ll need a suit of diamond armor! Unlike the other sets, Netherite isn’t one you can regularly craft in your inventory. Instead, you’ll have to gather and toss the necessary resources into a smithing table.

That’s a lot of information to take in, though. We’ll take it one step at a time.

Getting Netherite

The first thing you’ll have to do is get your hands on some Netherite ingots. To do this, you’ll need to locate some Ancient Debris in the Nether and smelt it using a furnace to create Netherite Scraps. You also need gold ingots, which you can find in the Overworld.

Once you get gold and Netherite Scraps, toss four of each into a crafting table to get one Netherite ingot. While this is enough to create one piece of Netherite armor, you’ll need three more to get an entire set.

If you want to upgrade your weapons and tools, you’ll need six additional ingots. Below is a quick summary of how many resources you’ll need:

  • One Netherite Ingot – Four Gold Ingots + Four Netherite Scraps
  • Four Netherite Ingots (Full armor set upgrade) – 16 Gold Ingots + 16 Netherite Scraps
  • Ten Netherite Ingots (Armor, weapon and tool upgrades) – 40 Gold Ingots + 40 Netherite Scraps

Making Netherite Armor

After making some Netherite ingots, you’ll have to find a smithing table. You can find these in a village or craft one using four wood planks and two iron ingots. Once you place it down, use your diamond armor piece and a Netherite ingot to get your upgraded gear.

As mentioned before, if you want a full set of Netherite equipment, you’ll also need a set of diamond gear and four Netherite ingots! Repeat the process a few times with each diamond piece to get a suit of Netherite armor in Minecraft.
