Monster Hunting is expensive business!

Money makes the world go around. Not just in the real world, but also the world in Monster Hunter Stories 2. Thankfully, making Zenny in MHS2 is much less of a grind than in real life, but it is still just as necessary, especially if you want to stand a chance against any of the ferocious monsters waiting for you outside of town. Here’s how to make money in Monster Hunter Stores 2.

How to Farm Zenny in Monster Hunter Stories 2

You can get Zenny for completing quests and selling items and gear in MHS2.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 does a great job at balancing difficulty, so you don’t have to grind too much if you don’t want to. You will, however, want to upgrade your weapons and armor when you get to each new area at the very least, and that requires Zenny. A lot of it.

The best weapons and armor are extremely pricey. If you want to earn enough to keep you competitive in the field, you will need to complete quests and missions or sell some goods. There are a couple of ways you can do this.

Complete Quests

You can seek out NPCs in town with exclamation mark icons above their heads. This icon means that that particular person needs your help somehow, usually by eradicating monsters or collecting items for them. These quests are best done as soon as possible, or at least before you leave the town.

Most of the items and monsters you need to find can be located whilst you’re completing the main missions. That way, you can line your pockets while progressing the story.

If you’ve already helped everyone who needs it, you can also visit the Quest Board for extra missions and rewards. These boards can be found in every town, so there will always be one available wherever you are in the story.

The Quest Board has two types of missions on it. Subquests, which are the same type of quests NPCs have in store for you, and Trial Quests, which involve you slaying certain monsters for Zenny and other rewards. Later on, you will also unlock Tournament Mode and Co-Op/Versus Quests, which can also be completed in exchange for Zenny and various other rewards.

Gather Items

You can also sell items to increase your savings in MHS2. You will need items and resources to craft weapons, armor, and consumables, so selling everything you own isn’t the best idea. But you can seek out rare resources while you’re out on your adventures to sell for a decent amount of cash.

When you’re out in the field, keep your eyes peeled for items that have gold coloring instead of their usual variations. This indicates that the items are more valuable! Rare resources also make a sparkling sound when you get close to them.

You can also sell rare and valuable monster items to make Zenny! Just make sure you have crafted any weapons and armor you want before you pawn off your more valuable parts.

Sell Your Old Weapons and Armor

Upgrading your weapons and armor is essential to staying competitive in MHS2. Each new location has new monsters that you have never encountered before, and they get stronger as you progress through the story. Crafting new weapons and armor is an expensive endeavor. This is bothersome if you need to grind for Zenny or monster parts, but on the plus side, it means you could be sitting on some seriously valuable gear!

There’s not really any reason to hold onto your old armor and weapons after you’ve crafted better ones, so you might as well sell them to fund your expeditions.
