How to Hatch Eggs in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

And thus, a new sassy Pokemon was born

If you’ve been playing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet for a while now, you’re likely already familiar with travelling around, catching wild Pokemon and levelling them up. You may even have a good chunk of your Pokedex completed alongside clearing the gyms, Titans and Team Star bases. Breeding and hatching eggs, however, is an entirely different matter. How to Hatch Eggs in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Before you can begin hatching eggs, you’ll have to get one first! The two main ways to do this are by breeding Pokemon during picnics or trading one with another player. If you obtain your own egg, you’ll have to set up a picnic and get two Pokemon, one male and one female, to start the process. Over time, eggs will appear in a basket for you.

If you don’t want to do that, you can get a friend to breed Pokemon for you. From here, you can head into the Poke Portal and start a Link Trade. That’s exactly what I did to get my Quaxly. More on that later, though.

Now that you have your egg, it’s time to begin hatching! To hatch your egg, you’ll have to place it in one of your party slots and start walking around. When doing this for my aforementioned Quaxly egg, I moved it into my first party slot before running around for about three to four minutes. After some time, the game will interrupt your exercise adventures with a cutscene. Your egg with hatch, rewarding you with a level one Pokemon to take its place.
