How to Get the Withering Touch Gem in Path of Exile

Incoming BAMA players.

The Withering Touch support gem brings several physical builds to life by transitioning their damage output to chaos in Path of Exile. Withering Touch is more of a niche support skill, as chaos-type builds are quite established already.

However, in some cases, Withering Touch sees some use in leveling builds instead of endgame builds, and players always look to find one early in the campaign. Here’s where to get the Withering Touch support gem as early as possible in Path of Exile.

Where to Get the Withering Touch Support Gem in Path of Exile

After finishing the Eternal Nightmare quest, the Withering Touch support gem becomes available only in Act 4. It is given as a quest reward, obtainable after beating the final boss of Act 4. The Withering Touch support gem is only available as a quest reward for Shadow and Ranger classes, however.

If you choose to get a different quest reward or if you have chosen a different reward and still need the Withering Touch support gem, you can buy it from Petarus and Vanja in Highgate (Act 4). This option is only available for Shadow, Ranger, Duelist, and Scion classes.

If you are a Witch, Marauder, or Templar, you will have to wait to finish Fallen from Grace in Act 6, and then buy the gem from Lilly Roth.

If you are looking for different versions, levels, or quality, you could try looking for a specific one on the Path of Exile’s official trade website.

Is the Withering Touch Support Gem Good in Path of Exile?

When enemies are hit by the main skill with the Withering Touch support gem, the hit applies the Withered debuff, increasing the chaos damage they take per stack. Most builds that use Withering Touch should capitalize on the increased damage per stack, mostly from chaos-type builds like BAMA, Blade Vortex, or Detonate Dead.

The Withering Touch support gem is incredibly niche, as not all chaos-type builds use them. It depends on how a build wants to scale or produce its damage.

The Withered debuff stacks up to 15, so you would need a good skill that applies several instances of damage in a relatively short time. Otherwise, you’d be better off with an Unbound AIlement support gem for scaling small instances of damage or “damage over time” builds.
