Popularly known as a family-friendly Diablo, Minecraft Dungeons has its own unique takes on how to make the same playstyle work in a Minecraft setting. And they succeed surprisingly well on that! The game itself is very simplified, but keeps the traditional randomly-generated dungeons and equipment drops systems settings as a trademark.
One of the most powerful items you can get through it is the Wither Armor. With some interesting unique passives and a catching rustic visual very fitting for dungeon crawling, this is one of the best defensive pieces you can get in the whole game, and here’s how you can unlock it.
Where to Get The Wither Armor in Minecraft Dungeons
The Wither Armor is found as a random drop in some dungeons. Since it’s just a Unique upgrade to the Grim Armor, you can get it anywhere you can usually drop its regular version. Namely, you can find it in the following dungeons with any difficulty:
- Cacti Canyon (Daily Trials only)
- Desert Temple
- Lower Temple
- Obsidian Pinnacle
- Soul Sand Valley (Apocalypse, DLC)
- Broken Citadel (DLC)

You can also obtain it from the Tower special mission. You can get basically every piece of equipment in the game there, so is definitely a bigger gamble to try your luck here.
Notably, Ancient Hunts are another good source of equipment. The Grim Guardian boss has a good chance of dropping the Wither Armor (or the Grim Armor counterpart) if you happen to find it along the way. Grim Guardian boss can be encountered if you offer equipment containing the following Runes before entering the hunt:
A good combination for achieving that is offering a Diamond Pickaxe and a Fishing Rod, but there are lots of other options available.
And lastly, you can try your luck at any Merchant and wait until they offer you a Wither Armor. Unless you really feel like spending your currency here, it might be better to just check them regularly after completing a stage to see if you got lucky. You might get some other good equipment along the way if you’re lucky!
