How to Get the Steinbjorn Armor in God of War Ragnarok

Become as tough as a bear.

God of War Ragnarok is filled with some fantastic armor with unique designs and perks that set each one apart. Most of them are tied to regions or bosses, and it’s easy to tell when a new one might show up. The Steinbjorn armor, however, is one of the most hidden rewards in the game.

This armor set has one of the best designs in God of War Ragnarok, and it can turn Kratos into a walking tank of a God. To earn it though, you’ll need a special item that seems useless at first. Luckily, we know exactly where to use it and how you can get your very own Steinbjorn armor.

God of War Ragnarok – How to Get the Steinbjorn Armor

The first thing you’ll need to get this armor is the Mystical Heirloom. After completing Chapter 10 Forging Destiny of the main story, you can head south of Tyr’s temple on the frozen path. Across from the temple, you’ll find a frozen wall that can be broken by Draupnir. Destroy it, and you’ll find the Mystical Heirloom along with a scroll from Alviss Stonefoot.

In the scroll, Alviss talks about his craftsmanship and the Trolls that he turned to stone, which is also mentioned in some side quests. These Troll statues can be found in God of War Ragnarok, and they can even be set free. Equipping the Mystical Heirloom and activating it in front of a Troll statue will break it free. Otherwise, the Relic is completely useless.

Four Trolls exist on the map in three locations. You’ll need to kill all four if you want to craft all three armor pieces in the Steinbjorn set. Once you kill one troll, the set will unlock. Below you can find the list of locations to take down the Trolls.

  • Midgard – Derelict Outpost
  • Alfheim – Southeast of the Forbidden Sands
  • Vanaheim – Naotun’s Garden (two trolls)

With all the ingredients in hand, you can finally craft the Steinbjorn armor set in God of War Ragnarok. It is almost entirely based on Defense and will protect you more than any other armor. The gear also gives a massive set bonus to stun damage, so have fun clobbering and taking damage like the hulk with this set.
