You can get the Memento Exotic backpack through Targeted Loot, Exotic Caches, raids, or incursions. The backpack was first introduced by reaching level 90 in the Season 3 battle pass, but has since been integrated into the general loot pool.

It can randomly drop at any time, but playing certain game modes at higher difficulties will increase the chances. The best method to get the Memento specifically is by playing Countdown on Heroic difficulty. Set the Targeted Loot to backpacks for the chance that it will drop during the mission, and completing it will reward you with Countdown Requisition, which can be used to buy Exotic Caches for more chances.

The Memento Exotic backpack works a bit differently than most Exotics in that it has all three core attributes: Weapon Damage, Armor, and one Skill Tier. Alongside a mod slot for gear mods, it has the Kill Confirmed talent that does the following:

  • Enemies you kill drop a trophy on death. Collecting trophies provides you with both a short and long-term buff, the first of which scales with the number of corresponding core attributes equipped, and lasts 10 seconds.
  • +5% Weapon Damage per red core
  • +10% Bonus Armor per blue core
  • +5% Skill Efficiency per yellow core
  • For every trophy collected, gain an additional +1% weapon damage, +0.1% armor regeneration, and +1% skill efficiency for 300 seconds. Maximum 30 stacks.
