How to Get the Lynel Mask in Tears of the Kingdom (ToTK)

Not a very persuasive cosplay...

Armor sets play a huge role in Tears of the Kingdom, whether that’s by helping you survive treacherous climates, against enemy attacks, or giving you gloom protection for depth exploration, but there’s a whole variety of alternative armor with a unique intention. Monster armor, or monster-themed masks to be more specific, are fantastic if you’re struggling to navigate a particularly tricky camp, and can be a great way to slip past without needing to draw a weapon and risk your health. That said, they aren’t as easy to collect as other armor sets found across Hyrule, and you’ll need to visit a specific vendor to get ahold of things like the Lynel mask in Tears of the Kingdom.

Where to Find the Lynel Mask in Tears of the Kingdom

To get ahold of the Lynel Mask or any monster mask, you’ll need to visit Koltin’s store which can be found in a few places around Hyrule. Generally, my favorite place to head is slightly east of the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower (3659, 2065, 0168) where he tends to set up at nightfall. Once he’s landed in his hot air balloon, you’ll be able to interact with him in the same way you would’ve Kilton in Breath of the Wild and exchange Bubbul Gems for goods.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to select from a list of stock and immediately buy the Lynel Mask since Koltin’s rewards depend on how many gems you’ve gathered. In total, you’ll need to collect and spend 36 Bubbul Gems at his shop to receive the Lynel mask, so you best get exploring some caves if you’re running slightly short. Of course, you’ll receive some pretty valuable rewards such as a Bokoblin Mask and some Hinox Toenails along the way, so you won’t be walking away gems down and only one item to show for it.

Once you’ve got the mask, equipping it will allow you to walk past and around Lynels without them feeling the need to attack you. So, if you’re low on health and need to get past one of these ferocious beasts, having this mask on hand can do you a world of good – especially if you’re wandering through the depths and need to protect yourself from any potential attacks whether or not you can see them right away.

With the extent of the adventure Tears of the Kingdom offers you should definitely look into getting some decent armor sorted sooner rather than later.
