How to Get Shiny Hitmonlee in Pokemon GO

If you like a Pokemon that knows what to do with its feet

Hope you haven’t been skipping leg day, because Hitmonlee is about to test them feet. Here’s how to get Shiny Hitmonlee in Pokemon GO.

How to Get Shiny Hitmonlee in Pokemon GO

Hitmonlee is the more offensive of the Hitmon trio, and it’s a Fighting-Type you’ll definitely want to add to your collection. Unfortunately, Hitmonlee and its cohorts can be a bit of a rare spawn and it has average Shiny spawn rates at 1 in 500.

But on a bright note, Hitmonlee and the other Hitmons are part of the Catch Mastery event running throughout the day. On March 5, Hitmonlee will have an increased spawn rate. Its Shiny form will also be more common.

Spinning Pokestops is also worthwhile during this event if you’re hunting down Shiny Hitmonlee, as any 7 km eggs you find during the March 5 event will hatch as Tyrogues, who also have an increased chance of being Shiny.

But Tyrogue leaves more up to chance. To get a Tyrogue to evolve into a Hitmonlee, its Defense stat must be its highest stat.

  • Tyrogue → 25 Tyrogue candy + Attack as highest stat = Hitmonlee

If you can’t find Hitmonlee during this event, that’s fine. Hitmonlee will still spawn outside of this event, usually in Urban biomes. I find that I’ve had much more luck getting Hitmonlees by hatching Tyrogues and getting them to randomly evolve into Hitmonlees. Like the event Tyrogue, normal Tyrogues will hatch from 7 km eggs.

Once you have a Hitmonlee, you might be wondering how it does in PvP. It does lag behind Hitmonchan in the early leagues, but not by much, and it’s still very viable. Here are the best moves for it.

Best PvP Move Set for Hitmonlee

  • Fast Attack → Double Kick
  • Charge Attack → Close Combat, Stone Edge

Good luck getting a Shiny Hitmonlee of your own! And while you’re at it, here’s how to get ready for Shiny Smeargle.
