After experiencing the horrors of Gleba in Factorio 2.0, you are faced with all new challenges on the next planet, Fulgora. The main way to get resources up and running in Fulgura is through recycling Scrap. But how do you get Scrap, and what do you do with it? Here’s the complete guide to getting Scrap and farming your basic resource in Fulgora in Factorio 2.0 Space Age.
How to Unlock Recyclers in Fulgora in Factorio 2.0
Before mining Scrap, you should first unlock the main building that actually uses and processes the Scrap, or else it will just become a nuisance to your inventory space. Scrap is processed into random intermediate products using a Recycler building. The Recycler unlocks after mining a big Fulgoran vault ruin in Fulgora.
Explore Fulgora and look for one massive pile that looks like a vault. It’ll look like the one in the image above. These are usually located in small aisles, and they are relatively close to your spawn point in Fulgora. It takes a while to mine it manually, but after successfully extracting the ruin, you’ll automatically unlock the Recycler.

How to Mine Scrap in Factorio 2.0
To mine scrap, all you need is a mining drill, preferably an Electric Mining Drill or a Big Mining Drill (explained later). Drilling Scrap is way faster than drilling other ores, so you’ll use up the nodes way faster than you are used to on other planets.
Just place the drills as you would on any mining node and let the drill mine the Scrap. Create a transport belt to deliver the Scrap. It is preferred to have more than one main line of transport belts delivering Scraps to your Recyclers because of how fast you would burn through this resource. It’ll also be much easier to plug a new resource node into your main production building this way when you start expanding, which will be explained later.
What to Do With Scrap in Factorio 2.0?
Once you have the Scraps, you want to position your belts into one line of Recyclers. You’ll have to use an inserter (fast or bulk would be the only option as this is a fast-moving consumer good) from the Scrap transport belt into the Recycler. However, you don’t need an inserter to bring out the finished product from the Recycler, so that saves one grid slot.
You just make a belt to get the product from the Recycler. The next step is to filter through all the types of products you can get. The Recycler has various products with different drop rates, which will make it unbelievably hard to sort out.
Here are the products and their corresponding drop rates per recycle:
Product | Drop Rate |
---|---|
Processing Unit | 2% |
Advanced Circuit | 3% |
Low Density Structure | 1% |
Solid Fuel | 7% |
Steel Plate | 4% |
Concrete | 6% |
Battery | 4% |
Ice | 5% |
Stone | 4% |
Holmium Ore | 1% |
Iron Gear Wheel | 20% |
Copper Cable | 3% |
The easiest way to filter these out is to use a purple chest and have the drones sort them in your buffer chests. When using this method, make sure the purple chest area is close to your yellow chest area so the drones won’t have to fly far. This will save you a lot of electricity and travel time in your logistics network.
When you have a longer line of Recyclers, you’ll want to have multiple purple chests to avoid traffic in your logistics network.

Best Scrap Mining Setup in Factorio 2.0
The best Recycler or Scrap mining setup is to have 20 to 24 Recyclers utilizing each side of the belt. This means that the belt is between two Recyclers, so the whole setup will have products from the left and right sides of the belt, giving your inserters an easier time grabbing them into the purple chests.
You also want to have one main transport belt of Scraps going into these Recyclers. When the line empties up, you can grab another node and reattach the belt to your belt so you can continuously increase your Scrap.
This will make your life easier once you start grabbing Scrap from different small islands using trains. You’ll have multiple train stops in your main base in Fulgora, funneling all the Scrap into one area.
Keep these Recyclers close to your main logistic network so the drones will never get overworked. Add more Accumulators and Lightning Rods as needed.
Your main problem will always be the lack of Scraps as you burn through them quite quickly. You’ll constantly find different nodes to support your main base. One way of prolonging a Scrap node’s life is by using Productivity Modules and a Big Mining Drill. Combining both will drastically prolong your Scrap nodes.
You are only doing this so you can get the small isles with 20+ million Scraps later in the game. Since these nodes are on extremely small isles, you won’t be able to make a train system on them. They are only acquired once you reach the next planet and unlock Foundations.
These Foundations will help you create a landmass above the deep, heavy oil ocean so you can finally expand in Fulgora. However, that will take a lot of hours to finish. Until then, you are forced to use this setup.
Make sure to go back to Vulcanus and maybe supplement its Heavy Oil, as Fulgora has an unlimited source of Heavy Oil, which Vulcanus desperately needs.
