How to Get Rid of Red Death Mists in Redfall

From gargoyle to dust in two easy steps

If you’ve played past the tutorial of Redfall, you’ve likely seen a thick, creeping mist stretching across some roads. This scarlet mist, known as Death Mist, does substantial damage if you touch it and will often prevent you from accessing certain areas. Fortunately, there’s a way to disperse it. Here’s how to get rid of the Death Mists in Redfall.

How to Disable the Red Death Mists in Redfall

There are all types of vampires in Redfall, from the aptly named Angler to the Siphon. But one vampire’s drawn the short stick: the Death Mist Spewer. These vampires are practically gargoyles. They sit in the middle of roads or buildings, their jaws unhinged, spewing an endless stream of caustic red mist.

If you’ve tried shooting at them, you’ll notice that they won’t even chip the Death Mist Spewer’s hide. The only way to do damage is through a portable UV Beam.

That’s right; you’ll need a gun that uses UV bullets to kill these vampires. Usually, UV beams will stun a vampire. But for Death Mist Spewers, here’s how it works best.

  • Equip your UV Beam gun.
  • Aim down your sights, creating a concentrated beam, then fire on the Death Mist Spewer.
  • The Death Mist Spewer will eventually stop spewing Death Mist, but it’s not over! Approach it and keep the beam trained on it.
  • Once the Death Mist Spewer petrifies and hardens, punch it.
  • This will shatter it, destroying the source of the Death Mist.

If you don’t shatter the Death Spewer, it will recover its health, and the Death Mists will return. It’s okay if you need to reload, as you’ll generally have enough time to finish the petrifying process.

If you’re just starting your adventure in Redfall, you’ll probably need to get into the nearest safehouse. Check out how to unlock them here: How to Unlock Safehouses in Redfall.
