Shortly after you start playing Slime Rancher 2, you’ll quickly notice that you don’t have a lot of inventory space. Unlike some games that provide dozens of slots, you’re initially limited to four and can only carry 20 items before having to sell or deposit them. How to Get More Inventory Slots in Slime Rancher 2
The main method of getting more inventory slots is getting the Extra Tank upgrade at the Fabricator. Head into the underground laboratory next to the Plort Market to find the Refinery and Fabricator. You’ll need the Refinery later, but for now, check out the Fabricator.
Head to your Fabricator and select the Upgrades tab. Here, you’ll find the Extra Tank upgrade. To make the Extra Tank, you need the following resources:
- Newbucks x450: Sell plorts at the Plort Market and crack open Treasure Pods
- Rock Plorts x10: Feed rock slimes and pick up their plorts. Feed them Heart Beets to get double the plorts
- Silky Sand x10: Get the Resource Harvester upgrade and use your vacpack to vacuum geysers along Starlight Strand’s shorelines.
Once you finish this upgrade, you’ll obtain a fifth inventory slot. You can improve your tanks one more time to get six slots total.

If you’ve already created the Extra Tank or don’t have enough resources, there is another option for upgrading your inventory. Your alternative option is getting the Tank Booster upgrade that allows you to carry extra units at a time. You need the following resources to get the first upgrade:
- Newbucks x450: Sell plorts at the Plort Market and crack open Treasure Pods
- Tabby Plorts x10: Feed tabby slimes and pick up their plorts. Feed them Stony Hens to get double the plorts
After getting this upgrade, your maximum carrying capacity for each item increases. Instead of having a 20-item limit, you can now hold 30. You can improve your tank twice more, allowing you to carry up to 50 items once fully upgraded.
