Cryopod in ARK: Survival Evolved is something like what a Poke Ball is to Pokemon, with a small twist. You use it to contain your Tame in a frozen “ice cube” state. This way, they won’t count in the tribe limit and it becomes fairly easy to transport the creature. You can also, for example, transfer creatures through otherwise impossible means (aquatic and big land ones can be moved by air). How to Craft Cryopods in ARK: Survival Evolved
In order to craft the Cryopods in ARK: Survival Evolved, you need to be Level 51 first.
You will need the following ingredients:
- 10x Crystal or Primal Crystal
- 15x Fiber
- 8x Polymer, Organic Polymer, or Corrupted Nodule
- 5x Hide
- 4x Oil
- 2x Metal Ingot or Scrap Metal Ingot
You can craft it at Obelisk, Supply Crate, Loot Crate, Deep Sea Loot Crate, or a Tek Replicator.
You will need a Refining Forge in order to make some of the ingredients listed above.
In addition to that, there’s a Cryofridge which you can get after Level 88 which can charge the Cryopods. The ingredients are as follows:
- 225x Metal Ingots
- 60x Polymer or Organic Polymer
- 25x Crystal
- 15x Electronics
Cryofridge needs electricity, but it will power Cryopods indefinitely.
Be careful when using the Cryopod because if it dies, the creature within it dies permanently and there’s no way to bring it back.

What is Cryo Sickness?
Cryo Sickness is a sickness that a creature gets when it leaves the Cryopod which lasts for 300 seconds (five minutes). It makes the creature receive 10 times more damage than usual and renders it unconscious, as well as applying a full bar of torpor. During the Sickness, you cannot put it in a Cryopod again. You also cannot ride the creature and it will not obey your whistle commands.
Cryo Cooldown is a Status Effect that you as a player get when you get the creature out of the Cryopod. It’s a “debuff” that will last for 300 seconds.
