I beat a bird god and all I got with this lousy crystal

How to Get and Use Wind Shards in Final Fantasy 16 (FFXVI)

Benedikta might be one of the most striking characters in Final Fantasy 16. And in the early chapter of Final Fantasy 16, she’s one of Clive’s most dangerous enemies. But if you want a Wind Shard, you’re going to have to beat her.

As a Dominant of Garuda, Benedikta has a unique connection to the wind. But you’ll need to defeat her in her uncontrolled form as Garuda to claim the Wind Shard. The Wind Shard’s item description states: “The power of the Eikon Garuda made manifest. This shard of crystal is light as a feather and can be heard to emit a soft hum when held to the ear.”

As the item description hints, this item is exclusive to Garuda. No other Wind Shards will drop in the game, and it doesn’t matter how much you farm her in the Arcade. The Wind Shard is just one in a long list of monster and boss-exclusive items which you’ll need to craft weapons.

To use the Wind Shard, you’ll need to go to Blackthorne in the Hideaway. He’ll now have the rare weapon Stormcry available for crafting. And at your current level, Stormcry’s 135 attack and 135 stagger are a good choice.

Eventually, you’ll be able to evolve Stormcry into Flametongue. And Flametongue will then be evolved into an even bigger and better sword, again with exclusive materials.

But just because the Wind Shard is one of a kind doesn’t mean there aren’t rare resources you can gather. Check out all the ways you can get Scarletite, which you can easily miss: How to Farm Scarletite in Final Fantasy 16 (FFXVI).
