How to Get All Amnesia: The Bunker Endings

Are you in the mood for some theory-crafting? We sure are!

If you’ve played previous Amnesia games, you’re probably used to seeing multiple endings to Frictional Games titles. Of course, the most seasoned horror game players are rushing to reach the end of Amnesia: The Bunker just to see the different endings of the game, and witness what the story writers have prepared for us. Anyway, here’s a full explanation of how to get all Amnesia: The Bunker endings, along with some interesting theories about who the Stalker Beast Monster is in Amnesia: The Bunker. Spoilers ahead. Big-time spoilers. You have been warned, our conscience is clear.

All Amnesia: The Bunker Endings Explained

To be perfectly frank, there are two official ending animations and (sort of) multiple ways to get them. Let’s dive right into this. The differences aren’t drastic, and a lot is left to the interpretation of the player.

Ending #1 in Amnesia: The Bunker – The Beast Lives

If you have opted to not kill the Beast (by yourself), you will rush out of the cave into broad daylight, to stumble all the way down into a puddle of water. After looking back up to the cave exit, the Beast gets out, screams, and runs to the left. Shortly after, German soldiers can be heard from the right. The scene cuts to the credits, and that’s all.

Ending #2 in Amnesia: The Bunker – The Beast Dies

Suppose you make an effort to kill the Beast… The difference will be that after falling into the puddle of water, the Beast won’t come out of the cave, and you will hear the German soldiers blowing their whistles and yelling anyway.

There’s one weird thing that can happen in the final encounter that I cannot classify as a “third ending” but here it is:

If you die by either the Beast, fall damage, explosion damage, rats, gas, or fire, you just… die. You roll over and that’s it, back to the loading screen. But, if you fall into the Abyss in the final level (regardless of whether the Beast is alive or dead), you will keep falling into darkness until a train suddenly comes out of nowhere which runs you over and sends you to the loading screen. Weird. Out of context. I’ve not figured out what’s the idea behind this.

What Is The Meaning of Amnesia: The Bunker Ending?

It’s definitely unclear what the fate of our protagonist is after the credits start rolling. In Ending #1, we can assume that the German soldiers spotted the Beast and that they want to go after it (oh boy, they’re in for a big surprise, regardless of the Beast not being in a love relationship with light sources).

In Ending #2, we can assume that the German soldiers heard some noise coming from the direction of the cave exit (maybe even the rubble falling down with our protagonist) and decided to investigate. What would the fate of our protagonist be after he is discovered? Would the Germans shoot on sight? Would the Germans capture and interrogate the protagonist and claim that there’s something very wrong with this individual?

Sadly, without an official developer/writer confirmation, we do not know the idea behind this scheme, and are instead left to theory-craft.
