How to Finish Special Comms in Escape from Tarkov

Prepare for a 2-hour journey!

Special Comms is one of the first Marathon tasks you’ll encounter in Escape from Tarkov. It requires you to go to Woods and Reserve in one Marathon raid, and the stakes couldn’t be any higher since these two maps are so far from the starting point. You’ll need to research and prepare for this Marathon raid because it will likely take more than an hour to finish or even just to have an attempt at it. Here’s how to finish the Special Comms task in Escape from Tarkov.

How to Complete the Special Comms Task in Escape from Tarkov

To complete the Special Comms task by Prapor, you need to switch your game mode to Marathon. Go to the raid menu (where you choose maps) and look at the “Marathon” icon on the upper right side of your screen. Tap the Marathon icon to convert the game mode to Marathon. Under the Marathon event, players won’t be able to choose any maps. Everyone starts on the Ground Zero map.

Before starting this Marathon raid, you need to make sure you are fully prepared for it. Here are the recommended items to bring:

  • 2x Military Cables (mandatory)
  • 2x Bulbex Cable Cutters (mandatory)
  • Your preferred loadout (weapon, armor, rig, etc.)
  • 3x sets of food and water (you can pick some during raids)
  • A lot of extra ammo (I mean a lot)
  • Healing items (preferably a Grizzly Kit so it doesn’t take much space)

To give you a glimpse of what you’ll be running, Marathon raids require you to travel from one map to another. Everyone starts in Ground Zero, and you’ll need to find and head to all the transit locations in the following order:

  1. Ground Zero
  2. Streets of Tarkov
  3. Interchange
  4. Customs
  5. Factory
  6. Woods
  7. Reserve

There’s a 7-minute requirement for you to stay in the raid before you can transit to the next map. As you can see, Woods and Reserve are extremely far, making you run 7 full raids in one whole… marathon. Dying in any of these maps will force you to restart in Ground Zero, losing all your items in the process. It is best you put your Military Cables and Bulbex Cable Cutters in your Pouch or Gamma Container. If you don’t have a big container, you have no choice but to put these items at risk.

Woods Special Comms Stash Location

The stash location in Woods is quite hot, but it is also very convenient for the Special Comms task. You need to stash the Military Cable and Bulbex Cutter next to the green crate near the RUAF Roadblock extraction. This RUAF Roadblock extraction is also the transit location from Woods to Reserve, so after stashing these items, you can immediately go to Reserve, assuming you have already spent seven minutes getting to this spot.

Reserve Special Comms Stash Location

The stash location on Reserve is on the top of the hill next to the heating pipes, opposite the warehouses, and close to the Armored Trains extraction. It is also the hill where the Bunker Hermetic Door is located. You’ll find some leftover supplies next to some sandbags, and you need to stash them in this semi-open location.
