How to Finish Dirty Blood in Escape from Tarkov

If only we can take the blood sample from any zombie...

The Escape from Tarkov Halloween event in 2024 brings zombies for the first time ever in their ultra-realistic FPS game. You have fought the first wave of the horde in Labs by finishing the Don’t Believe Your Eyes quest from Jaeger, and he has now tasked you to face the horrors again, but this time, he’ll want some blood samples for the Dirty Blood quest, which is the second of many more quests for the Halloween event. Here’s how to prepare for and finish the Dirty Blood quest in Escape from Tarkov.

How to Complete the Dirty Blood Task in Escape from Tarkov

To complete the Dirty Blood task, you must finish the following objectives:

  • Locate and obtain the infected blood sample in The Lab.
  • Hand over the infected blood sample.

Unlike other maps, The Lab has a 100% infection rate, meaning there is a 100% chance that zombies will spawn. This makes sense since the outbreak started from the containment room based on the first quest, Don’t Believe Your Eyes.

Since you’ll go straight into the fray and look for the blood samples in the containment room, you want to prepare the following for your loadout:

  • Zagustin stim
  • Water (for infection)
  • 2x weapons, preferably cheap semi-automatic shotguns with magnum buckshot
  • VOGs
  • Class 3 or 4 armor and helmet (just for zombies that shoot)

Zagustin stims will help you with the virus and clear heavy bleeding when hit by zombies. When you do get the virus, you’ll need water to keep yourself hydrated as you’ll lose hydration five times faster because of the virus.

Weapons are based on preference, but you want something cheap so you don’t waste expensive ammo. You’ll probably use upwards of a thousand ammo when using automatic rifles, so a shotgun is the most cost-efficient one.

VOGs will help you clear out a horde, especially if you are solo. Armor is practically mandatory because of zombies that shoot. They shoot weak ammo, and their accuracy is abysmal, but you still want to be protected.

Infected Blood Sample Location in The Lab

Once you have your loadout set, go to Labs and rush to the containment room near the infirmary or med tents on the first floor. Based on experience, zombies seem like they have a guaranteed spawn near this containment door, but they are easy to clear out and they don’t usually go in once you are inside the laboratory already.

Once you are inside the containment room, open the switch door immediately and head to the laboratory. By the end of the hallway, look to the right, and you’ll see someone with a yellow hazmat dead on the floor. Look over the suit’s right shoulder and take the infected blood samples.

Reload your weapons and get ready to rush the exits. The safest way to exit is to go down the metal staircase just to the right of the containment room entrance. Power the elevator underground and extract.

Survival is key, so you should probably use the Zagustin stim before you make this run. Good luck!
