How to Finish Decontamination Service in Escape from Tarkov

Time to clean up the Scavs.

The Decontamination Service by the Therapist is a tedious task in Escape from Tarkov. Eliminating that many targets will take multiple raids, and the task doesn’t even unlock any other quests. However, the rewards, especially the experience points, are what players want from it. Most players naturally finish the task as long as they know the mechanics. Here’s how to complete the Decontamination Service task in Escape from Tarkov.

How to Complete the Decontamination Service Quest in Escape from Tarkov

To finish the Decontamination Service quest from the Therapist, you need to do the following objective:

  • Eliminate 40 Scavs from less than 60 meters away while wearing specific gear on Interchange

Eliminating 40 Scavs is a lot of work, but the “60 meters away” condition doesn’t matter since Interchange is mostly for close-range fights. The specific gear you have to wear is any of the following:

  • Respirator
  • GP-5 Gas Mask
  • GP-7 Gas Mask

These are cheap on the flea market, so you can buy them before going into an Interchange raid. The Respirators should be the cheapest since there are some useful barters from the other gas masks.

Where to Find a Lot of Scavs in Interchange

Luckily, Interchange is a hotbed for Scavs. There are so many areas that have some dense Scav spawns. There are some occasions where they spawn too many, and you might get overwhelmed. But you want to know that Scav’s spawn rates can fluctuate.

The general mechanic to know is that if you go to an area that didn’t spawn any Scavs, they could’ve spawned somewhere else on the map, and other players might have gotten to them. Eventually, you’ll have to wait a few minutes while in the raid to let them spawn again. Nevertheless, you want to hit the hotspots for all the Scav spawns constantly.

Here are some of the hottest places for Scavs in Interchange:

  • OLI (near the registers, up and down the escalators, and around the shelves)
  • Goshan (middle area near the counters and at the back with all the toolboxes)
  • Scav Camp (PMC & Scav extraction point)
  • Center of Interchange (general center of the mall e.g. Mantis, Brutal, and KIBA)
  • Emercom ramp (The ramp going to the mall from the Emercom extraction point)
  • Power station
  • IDEA counters and offices
  • Basement near the #11SR extraction room

Going around these areas will surely find you three or more Scavs per location, as long as the Scavs did spawn in that location. Pay attention to the dead bodies, as some PMCs might have already gotten them. You can also have some fun and use a GL40 or an under-barrel grenade launcher while finishing off the Scavs. Our guide on the fastest way to make money in Escape from Tarkov 0.15 patch also revolves around Interchange, so you can also do that while finishing the Decontamination Service quest.
