Oathbound Chests

Tons of changes just dropped in the Fortnite Chapter 4 update, and along with a brand new map, Epic Games added fresh content such as Oathbound Chests. These new crates of loot fit the chivalry theme of the new season, among others, and they offer up a chance for some powerful items.

Normal chests haven’t gone anywhere and they can still be found all over the map. However, players will want the Oathbound chests for the Exploration Quest completion and the loot that can be found each time. We’ll go over how you can find one of these new chests and what they can contain in our Fortnite Chapter 4 guide.

Fortnite Chapter 4 – Where to Find Oathbound Chests

Compared to past items in the game, the Oathbound Chests work in a similar way to the basic Rare Chests. They spawn at a much lower rate than the standard chest and where they spawn can be fairly random. However, the Oathbound version has one trait that can make it much easier to locate in each match.

The Oathbound Chests will only spawn in the medieval or castle-themed sections of the Fortnite Chapter 4 map. You’ll know you’re in the right area if the trees are orange or autumn colored. Some of the points of interest you can find in the medieval sections included The Citadel, Anvil Square, or Shattered Slabs. Most of the medieval-themed areas can be found on the western side of the island, but there are also sections located to the east, so you have plenty of options.

When you open one of these chests, you’ll only receive loot that is a blue rarity or higher, and you’ll have a much higher chance to collect themed weapons such as the Ex-Caliber Rifle or the Shockwave Hammer. To find an Oathbound Chest with these items as fast as possible, search spawns that would typically have a chest. Though every match has randomized rare chest spawns, you’re bound to find what you need soon enough.
