How to Find and Tame Wyverns in Ark Ascended: Scorched Earth

Wyverns are one of the best flying mounts on Scorched Earth, and that naturally makes them extremely difficult to tame. In fact, their aggressive temperament means you can’t tame adult Wyverns at all. You’ll have to raise a Wyvern from an egg and raise it that way.

Scorched Earth absolutely sprawls, and it can be hard to find wyverns if you don’t know where to look. To find a Wyvern and its nest, look for the chasms that separate the dunes from the center of the map on the west side. These chasms, beyond being very deep, are distinguished by their massive white crystals and lava rivers running through the center of them. I’ve noted the location of the wyvern chasm in green on the map below. Click on the map to expand it.

In the walls of these chasms, you’ll periodically see nests, which may have eggs in them. These eggs are generally guarded by both a male and female Wyvern, who can have a variety of elemental abilities, from fire to lightning. Grab the Wyvern egg but be prepared for some fierce pushback. Wyverns are extremely aggressive long-distance attackers with powerful attacks. Having a flying mount is essential here.

Once you have the Wyvern egg, you’ll need to incubate them. Wyvern eggs take around five hours to hatch and, ideally, need to be in the range of 80 – 90 Celsius. Things can skew hot in Scorched Earth, so you may need to craft an air conditioner to keep your egg cool. If your egg is too cold, you can surround it with torches or campfires instead. Once your Wyvern hatches, it will only accept Wyvern Milk as food.

To get Wyvern Milk, you’ll need to return to the chasms where you initially found the egg and knock out a female Wyvern. Using tranquilizers isn’t a terrible idea to grab that milk with as little trouble as possible. However, you can opt to kill an Alpha Wyvern of either gender for even more milk than usual.

Wyverns are hard to tame, but if you want one of the more unique dinosaurs in Scorched Earth, the Oasisaur is for you. Or perhaps you’d rather peruse all the available dinosaurs on Scorched Earth, along with how to tame them?
