How to Tame the Oasisaur in Ark: Survival Ascended Scorched Earth

As you’ve wandered Scorched Earth, there’s a chance you’ve encountered the rare Oasisaur. These massive creatures can only be found at level one in the dunes. I’ve had the most luck in the northern dunes, where they can be found at quite a distance because of their size.

To tame an Oasisaur, you must have purchased the DLC Bob’s Tall Tales. Oasisaur is otherwise untameable. From there, you must resurrect one of your dead dinosaurs on the Oasisaur’s back.

So, here’s what to do. Take one of your tamed dinosaurs and kill them. I don’t recommend using a dinosaur you care about for this taming process, as you may lose them permanently! Once your chosen dinosaur is dead, open its inventory. You’ll find the tamed creature’s Death Essence in its inventory. Taking it will give you twenty-four hours to resurrect it. And to do that, we’ll need to get on the Oasisaur’s back.

There are several ways to get on Oasisaur’s back. You can tame and use a Wyvern or Argentavis to fly onto its back or you can try to grapple. Once you’re on the Oasisaur’s back, you’ll find that there’s a pool on the back of the dinosaur. Interact with it and open the inventory of this pool.

You’ll then be able to put your dead tamed dinosaur’s death essence into the pool. Your dead dinosaur will appear floating above the pool. Your goal is to protect your dinosaur as it regenerates. During its regeneration period, you’ll be attacked by flying dinosaurs in a series of waves. The only dinosaurs you’ll encounter are likely vultures.

Your dinosaur will have a green health bar, which shows how much damage it can take before the process fails. Eventually, an orange bar will appear below the green health bar. This is the progress bar for the resurrection. If you succeed at protecting your dinosaur, you’ll get your dinosaur back, albeit in baby form. But more importantly, you’ll get an Oasisaur!

The Oasisaur is useful because it’s capable of growing resources on its back. You’ll find flint, thatch, metal, stone, crystal, sulfur, and cactus sap in very large quantities. To access these resources, you’ll need to interact with the Oasisaur’s pool, not its general inventory. You can also build a small base on the Oasiaur’s back!

But the Oasisaur isn’t the only new dinosaur on the singed block. You can even tame a wyvern. Or perhaps you just want more resources, like crystals?
