Metal is one of the more important resources to find in Ark: Survival Ascended and it has plenty of uses. Like all resources, players can farm this element from different locations on the map, but knowing where to look for is incredibly helpful. Here are the best Metal locations in Ark: Survival Ascended: Scorched Earth.
How to Find Metal in Ark: Survival Ascended
Metal can be found by mining any node of rock, but to get them reliably, you have to look for mounds with shiny spots. These mounds will give you metal in a guaranteed fashion, and the yields will be high as well. If you’re in serious need of this resource, this is the best approach.
While such nodes can be found in all regions, they’re concentrated in the northern part of the main island. The regions around the Volcano have plenty of great spots where you can find this resource in abundance. The southern part of the map also has certain regions with shiny mounds, but they’re lower in comparison.
For beginners, the southern part of the map will be advantageous as there are fewer dangers. The region around the volcano can be very dangerous as there are some hostile dinosaurs who can make a quick meal out of you.

Once you have reached the correct region, you’ll now have to use the correct tool to farm this resource. You should carry a Metal Pick if you want to maximize your rewards for your efforts – Stone Picks aren’t really that effective. Make sure to use the Ankylosaurus mount if you have access to it. The Ankylosaurus mount is your best friend for getting several resources and provides a weight reduction boost as a bonus as well.
This resource will require you to build a forge to turn it into ingots. Later in the game, the industrial forge will reduce the time it takes for you to craft the ingots. Like Metal, Sulfur is pretty hard to obtain as well if you don’t know the best locations.
