How to Get Seeds in Hytale
Getting your first few seeds is the hardest part of farming in Hytale because you won’t find them in the wild. Instead, you have to either find them through random chests or you can purchase seeds using the Essence of Life at the Farmer’s Workbench.
You can craft the Farmer’s Workbench from your regular Workbench using Tree Trunks and Plant Fiber. At the Farmer’s Workbench, you can go under the Seeds section and purchase seed bags in exchange for Essence of Life.
If you don’t have any Essence of Life, try looking around your area for Wheat. Harvesting Wheat yields Essence of Life, which can then be exchanged for seeds.
How to Plant Crops in Hytale
Before planting crops, you need to till and prepare the soil. For this, you’ll need the Crude Hoe tool, which can be crafted at the Farmer’s Workbench. Right-click on any piece of soil, and it will change its appearance. Then equip one of your seed bags and right-click to plant the seeds.
Now you need to water the seeds using the Watering Can. The Watering Can can be crafted at the Farmer’s Workbench, and it costs 3 Iron Ingots to craft.
Once you have a Watering Can, go down to a river to fill it up by pressing right-click. You can then return to your crops and water them one by one. Each crop only needs to be watered once.
How to Harvest Crops in Hytale
Crops in Hytale generally fully grow within a single day cycle after watering. Once they’re matured, you can interact with them to harvest the crop and also gain some Essence of Life. Each crop yields more Essence of Life than the cost to buy the Seed Bag for the crop.
You can use the excess Essence of Life to buy more seeds and spend on other upgrades as you grow your farm in Hytale. This also makes farming the quickest method of farming Essence of Life in Hytale.
