How To Enable the Minimap in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2

Why isn't this on by default?

The dangerous lands of Hammerwatch are filled with treasure, monsters, and secrets to unravel and that’s no different in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2. Each stage has plenty to explore and loot, but continuously opening the map to keep an eye on things can get annoying fast. By default, the minimap isn’t toggled on in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2, which is surprising considering how useful and customizable it is. Here is how you can enable it in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2.

Enable the Minimap in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2

To enable the Minimap in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2, head into options from the main or pause menu, and toggle it in the “Game” section.

Once enabled, you can dynamically customize it in-game as well through the same settings. I’m playing the game at 1440p and found the following to be the best settings for visibility.

Minimap SettingVlaue
Minimap Opacity0.7
Minimap Scale1.4
Minimap Size170

With these settings, the minimap is visible, but not intrusive thanks to the slightly lower opacity. It covers a big part of the map but doesn’t crowd the screen either.

Once you have the minimap available though, the game does a great job of highlighting different items, gold, enemies, and waypoints on the map. It also helps locate Secret Rooms, which are very hard to spot during regular exploration. There is no reason to have this disabled, especially if you want to ensure you don’t miss out on things. If you aren’t comfortable with its size, you can always reduce it.

Outside of the minimap, players can access the regular map by pressing “M”, which they can zoom in and out of, and move around as well. This gives a far more detailed look at the current stage, so you can figure out where to go next.

Overall, the minimap is a very useful tool in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 and we’re unsure why it isn’t enabled by default. Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 gives players a lot of UI customizability and freedom, which is impressive considering this isn’t a big-budget RPG.
