How to Earn In One Take Trophy/Achievement in Layers of Fear

How to get through the set without getting caught in the lights in Layers of Fear

One of the rarest trophies/achievements in the newly released first person horror game, Layers of Fear is called “In One Take,” which has only been earned by just 1.4% of the game’s PS5 player base as of this writing. The achievement features an easily missable challenge that tasks Layers of Fear gamers with avoiding lights in a trippy, black and white puzzle room. Here is the strategy for obtaining this very rare trophy/achievement in the newly released Layers of Fear.

In the first chapter of The Actor’s Story (originally featured in Layers of Fear 2), players will obtain a flashlight tool that serves as a useful, lifesaving item, which can help solve puzzles and even slow down monsters. After finding and testing out the flashlight by causing one mannequin to shoot another, leave through the door with a porthole, and you will encounter a dark room with a lever/switch.

When you pull the lever/switch to a downward position, lights will begin swaying from side to side in the room, and this is where you can begin the attempt for the “In One Take” trophy/achievement. In order to obtain the “In One Take” achievement, you must navigate this entire section of doors and hallways without being spotted by any lights. If you are seen by the light, failure is triggered, and you will have to start the section over again. In total, there are three lights that must be avoided.

The first light is found right after the lever/switch, it moves slowly along the floor rotating right and left in the path directly in front of you.

Wait for the light to pass to the left, and sprint toward the hallway directly ahead, then take the door on the left.

Don’t venture into the next hallway yet, as the second light vertically patrols the hall, swaying to and fro along the rug section of the floor. You want to head to the door directly across the hall ahead, as pictured above.

Wait for the light to move away and sprint to the door, which leads to an office room with mannequins.

The office is a safe room with no swaying lights, or anything that can hurt you, so feel free to take a break if you need to. Use your flashlight on the mannequin to obtain an item and make sure to grab the collectible movie poster on the wall just to your right, as you enter the room. Open the door on the right side once you are ready, but don’t walk into the next hall yet.

The third and final light is the trickiest, as it patrols the entire hallway, making avoidance difficult. Thankfully, there is an alcove you can hide in about halfway through the hall on the right side (as pictured above). When you have an open opportunity, sprint and take shelter in the opening before the light starts coming back down the hallway.

Once you are safely in the alcove, wait for the light to pass you on the left side and sprint to the next hallway.

At this point, you have successfully accomplished the task, but “In One Take” will not pop until you have reached a specific room with a vault door. Use your flashlight on the mannequin with a box, which will animate to show an open tunnel to crawl through beneath the box.

Proceed to crawl through the hole in the wall and into the tunnel, which is strewn with rocks, wood, and various cords and cables. Press forward through the cramped path until you reach the other side.

Once you have crawled out of the tunnel and successfully reached a room with another porthole door and a bank vault, you will receive the very rare “In One Take” bronze PlayStation trophy or Xbox achievement worth five Gamerscore.
