How to Cure Depression and Weakness in Pals in Palworld

Not so different from real life

There’s nothing worse than a beloved Pal suddenly losing the will to work because it’s depressed. Here’s how to cure depression and weakness in Pals in Palworld.

How to Cure Depression and Weakness in Pals in Palworld

If you’re getting frequent red notifications about your Pal loafing around, going to bed early, or just refusing to work, your Pal has a problem. It’s likely suffering from Depression or the Weakened state, which you can confirm by heading into your base. Pals that have a lower mental or physical state will have a Purple status effect beneath their name.

And so long as that’s there, they’ll be less efficient and less happy. Fortunately, curing Weakness and Depression in Pals is easy. All you have to do is create High Grade Medical Supplies.

High Grade Medicine can be crafted on any Medicine Table, including the Medieval Medicine Workbench, which you can unlock at level 12 from your Technology menu. To find this menu, head into your inventory and tab right.

To craft High Grade Medical Supplies, you’ll need the following resources:

  • Ingot x 5.
  • Horn x 5.
  • Bone x 2.

Ingots can be created from Ore in a furnace. Horns can be farmed from Caprity and Eikthyrdeer, and Bones can be found by defeating Vixy and Rushroar.

Once you have that, craft the High Grade Medical Supplies at the Medicine Workbench. This will take a long time, and you can only improve the rate by using a Pal with the medicine work trait. This work trait is represented by the pestle and mortar icon beneath its stats.

When the medicine is finally crafted, acquire it from the bench and approach the afflicted Pal. It may take some finagling, but eventually you’ll see a prompt to “Open Menu.” This can be hard to accomplish when your Pal is working, so you might want to wait until night when it finally goes to bed.

In the menu that pops up, select “Feed.” You’ll then be given the option to feed the Pal High Quality Medical Supplies. And this will instantly cure your Pals depression or weakness! If only it was that easy in the real world.

If you don’t have access to Medical Supplies, you can also heal a depressed or sick Pal by removing them from the Base and placing them back into the Palbox. Pals will naturally heal over time when not in the base, although it may take quite some time before they feel better.

You should also know that if you’re playing multiplayer, you’re not responsible for another player’s Pals. You can’t heal a Pal in your Base that doesn’t belong to you. If you identify a depressed or mistreated Pal in your Base, contact its owner to immediately rectify the situation.

Palworld’s Depressed Pal, Depresso

As you began your travels in Palworld, you may have quickly come across a very ornery-looking Pal named Depresso. If you were concerned Depresso is in a naturally depressed state, you have nothing to fear—that’s just the way he looks. In fact, Depresso’s traits are more in line with his espresso inspiration than his questionable mental state: Depresso has the Caffeine Inoculation Partner Skill, which increases his movement speed after he drinks a massive amount of energy drinks.

Depresso is one of the better Pals to add to your Base early on in the game, as he’s one of the few who can immediately Mine for you. On top of that he’s a decent Dark-type fighter who can shoot poison and hurl shadowy blobs that track enemies. Just make sure you’re still keeping an eye on his mental state to keep him more espresso, less depresso.
