How to Complete Perrin’s Quest in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk

Now you genuinely gotta catch 'em all

Not long after you start your Indigo Disk adventure, you’ll meet Perrin, a familiar, upbeat girl with a photographic camera that’ll ask you to fill your Pokédex. But how exactly do you complete Perrin’s quest in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

How to Complete Perrin’s Quest in Pokemon Indigo Disk

The Blueberry Pokédex contains 243 Pokémon, but even if your Paldean Pokédex is complete, it’s not enough to cover the 200 Pokémon Perrin asks you to register. There is a nice reward to this quest, though. When you manage to register over 200 Pokémon, Perrin will show you some pictures revealing the location of the two new Paradox Pokémon introduced in Indigo Disk: Raging Bolt if you’re playing Scarlet, and Iron Crown if you’re playing Violet.

The first way to fulfill this quest is a no-brainer: just catch all the Pokémon you can that you haven’t registered yet. Purchase lots of Great Balls and Ultra Balls for a higher catch rate. Some other specific types of Poké Balls, like Net Balls and Dusk Balls, are very convenient, too.

It’s also a good idea to explore the biomes more than once, as there are Pokémon that only appear at certain times of the day or under specific weather conditions. It’s a bit of a slow process, but it has to be done.

Don’t invest all your time into wandering aimlessly to find Pokémon, though, because some of them, mostly the Legendaries, can only be encountered after you take precise actions or talk to NPCs.

Another thing you can do to register more Pokémon quickly is to transfer your existing Pokémon from Pokémon Home. Thanks to update 3.2.1, Pokémon Home now supports the Indigo Disk expansion. You might want to check our guide on the returning Pokémon in Indigo Disk, so you cross-reference with the ones you own in Pokémon Home. This way, you can register them without going through the process of finding and catching them.

Last but not least, you can always count on the power of friendship. Trading Pokémon with your friends is a great way to fill up your Pokedex. It’s even better if you’ve got different versions of the game; that way, you can share version-exclusive Pokémon.
