Path of Exile 2 has several difficult bosses throughout the campaign. Some players might breeze through the bosses with a strong build, but most players will eventually struggle with a few bosses before hitting their power spike. One of the biggest hurdles in Act 1 is the Draven the Eternal Praetor boss, which has several dangerous attacks capable of one-shotting you. Here’s a complete guide on Draven the Eternal Praetor’s attacks, so you can easily beat him in battle in Path of Exile 2.
How to Defeat Draven the Eternal Praetor in Path of Exile 2 | Boss Guide
Draven alternates on four different attacks and they are all quite dangerous. Some of these attacks can even one-shot you if you don’t have enough flat Maximum Life or other defensive stats on your gear. At this point in the game, you are less likely to have defensive stats on all your gear slots, so you should learn the mechanics instead and dodge all the critical attacks.
Let’s start with his most basic attack, which is Draven’s quadruple slash combo. Draven will swing his weapon for four straight slashes going to you. He does this when you are near, but it is dangerous since it can stagger you for a split second when you get hit. If your HP isn’t full, you might get caught off guard and forget to use the healing flask while getting hit.
Draven’s 180° Projectile Attack
Draven does an extremely wide 180° projectile attack that practically covers half your screen. However, it is only dangerous when you are near him because it’ll be hard to dodge without the spaces between the projectiles. To telegraph this attack, look for his weapon and wait for Draven to drop it down to the floor and he is looking to swing his sword up even if you aren’t that close. This movement will eventually launch several projectiles from the direction he is facing, dealing massive damage to anyone hit.
This attack is extremely dangerous, especially when combined with the other attacks. Draven can also do this attack twice, which makes dodging it even more unpredictable. Stay away from melee range and try to dodge away from Draven.

Draven’s Linear Shockwave to the Ground
When Draven raises his weapon up with both hands, he slams the ground, sending a massive shockwave out. This is by far the easiest to dodge and all you have to do is to dodge roll twice away from the shockwave. The attack is similar to the first boss, the Bloated Miller fight, but with the added shockwave to the sides.
Asinia’s Explosion Spells
During the whole fight against Draven, he constantly calls the aid of Asinia, an invulnerable enemy that will cast four circular spells on the ground that will explode after two seconds. Asinia will always cast four spells, with the last one being twice as large as the first three.
When this attack starts happening, you have to stop whatever you are doing and start dodge rolling non-stop. Running around isn’t fast enough to dodge the last blast, so you have to dodge at least five times throughout the attack sequence.
Keep in mind that Draven will also rotate among its attack sets while this is happening. This makes his slash combo more dangerous, as it can stagger you for a bit, leaving you in the radius of Asinia’s explosion spell. The projectile attack will also become more dangerous if you have to deal with dodging those and the explosions.
The best tip is to completely focus on dodging when Asinia is always up. Draven will call her up, or you can read the dialogue if you have it open.
Once you learn all these attacks, you can mix in your attacks on any openings until you defeat Draven, the Eternal Praetor. If you are still having problems, make sure to level up your skill gems, as it might help with both defense and offense.
