How to Advance Time in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
Great addition!
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has a bunch of new useful features to improve the pirate experience as you sail the Caribbean, find treasure, and take on contracts. The game has a fully dynamic day-and-night cycle, but unlike the original, you can advance time in the remake, and here’s how.
Advance Time in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
When you aren’t engaged in combat or an active mission, you can advance the time from day to night, or vice versa, by holding Right on the D-pad with a controller, or X on the keyboard. Edward will sit down, and time will rapidly pass around him, advancing to the next day or night in just a few seconds.

It’s a really neat feature because nights can be pretty dark in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and sometimes you want the extra visibility. This is because Resynced uses global illumination, resulting in far more accurate lighting than the original. I like the switch to the day when I want to take photos and explore islands.
Just keep in mind that this feature isn’t available in every scenario and location; you have to be disengaged from some activity and are just free-roaming. If a mission is designed for nighttime, don’t expect to change the time of day during it.
While holding Right on the D-pad advances time, simply pressing it lets Edward whistle to distract enemies. There are plenty of actions tied to the D-pad, including the ability to sheathe weapons, something that wasn’t possible in the original Black Flag.
Can you rebind these inputs?
Yes, just like every other action in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, you can rebind the “advance time” option to anything you want. Just go to Options, then Controls, then Customize Controls.

I recommend keeping it as a “hold” input though, to confirm the action. You don’t want to tap it randomly and see the entire animation play out.
In addition to advancing time, there are tons of new features and improvements in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and it’s clear that the developers have put in a lot of effort to make those feel naturally woven into the existing systems of the classic title.
