How Long is Octopath Traveler?

  • 30+ Chapters
  • 30 – 60 Hours

Anyone who tried their hand at the Octopath Traveler demo should have a general idea of how long it takes to make it through the first two chapters. While that isn’t a direct indication of how long the entire game is, it’s enough to give you a vague idea. Octopath Traveler has over 30 chapters, which means if you’re flying through the game it’s going to take you at least 30 hours. Savvy “speed runners” might be able to get that number down to 20-25 hours, but definitely not on your first play through when you’re still trying to figure things out.

For the average person, who likes to take their time but won’t do every possible side quest or activity, Octopath Traveler should take about 35-45 hours to complete. That time will vary depending on how often you get sidetracked, how long you take to figure out how you want to outfit your party and things of that nature. Unless you’re a real stickler for getting everything done and having the perfect party, it shouldn’t take you more than 45 hours to get through the game.

The completionists who need to find everything and max out all of their characters will find that Octopath Traveler will take upward of 60-70 hours to complete. That number can be extended depending on just how long you spend on every little side quest, but it should be around 60 hours to get everything done.

Just to get your four main heroes up to around level 40 you’re going to be playing for roughly 25 hours. Once you’ve got that out of the way, you’ll still need approximately 20-30 hours to finish up the main story chapters. This includes collecting loot from a multitude of dungeons that are littered across the map. Some players will move a bit faster once they have the basics of the game down, but others will still take their time with things.
