How Does Terastal Work in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? – Answered

First off, let’s talk about what Terastal is.

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Pokemon can Terastalize, and a jewel will appear on their head. The Pokemon’s body will also shine bright like a diamond. It’s a new phenomenon, and understanding it is part of the adventure in Scarlet and Violet.

Each Pokemon has a Tera Type; this type does not take effect until the Pokemon Terastallizes. The example used in the trailer shows that a special Pikachu can become a flying type, changing from its standard electric typing.

Each Pokemon can have any Tera Type, so finding the perfect combination gives collectors something to hunt for. Pokemon currently has 18 types, so get ready to find the ideal Wooper with the Tera Type you want.

When a Pokemon Terastallizes in battle, it will change to its Tera Type and increases the power of any moves of the same type. Base Pokemon have something called STAB, which stands for Same Type Attack Bonus, and this mechanic seems to be an even more potent version of that.

You can use this gimmick once per battle, which lasts until the end of the battle or when the Pokemon faints.

To use this feature, you’ll need a Tera Orb, which are scattered worldwide, and you’ll need to obtain them by exploring. Tera Orbs need to be recharged by either finding a crystal in the wild or going to a Pokemon Center.

Well, that’s everything you need to know about how Terastal works in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. If you’re looking for more new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet info, check out the new Paldean Wooper.
