Cooking has come to Animal Crossing New Horizons in the latest update and plenty of people aren’t sure how to get started. Luckily, we have everything you need to know about how to cook in Animal Crossing new Horizons.
How to Cook and Get DIY Recipes In Animal Crossing New Horizons
First off, in order to have access to cooking, you’ll need to head to the Resident Services building and go to the ATM. Here click on Redeem Nook Miles and scroll down to find the “Be a Chef! DIY Recipes+” item. Purchase this of 2,000 Nook miles.
Now you’ll have access to cooking some recipes, but you’ll need a Kitchen Station in order to start. If you already have a fancy Kitchen Station item in your house just go over and interact with it. If not, you can be like us and craft the Stone Kitchen recipe or something similar.
After interacting with the Kitchen Station you’ll have a few recipes to choose from, most of which need one of two specific ingredients. You’ll need wheat in order to make flour, and sugarcane in order to make sugar.
These new ingredients can be found on Harv’s Island, which has a bunch of new stuff going on.
Head over to Harv’s Island and get the tour, where Harv will explain that donating to the Gyroids around the campsite will bring in new merchants for you to buy stuff from. You’ll need to donate 100,000 bells to each Gyroid for the building to be made.
Look around for a gyroid that is talking about plants and crops. Donate to this one and the next day you’ll be able to access some of the new crops like wheat and tomatoes you’ll need for cooking.
You can also acquire new recipes from fishing. Certain fish like the Horse Mackerel will inspire new DIY dishes you can cook. So be sure to fish a bunch and find those free recipes.
