Dragon Age: The Veilguard offers numerous side quests, many of which unfold across multiple sub-quests. A Hidden Hoard is one such quest, centered around uncovering a hidden treasure in Minrathous. While it might seem straightforward at first, the challenge lies in locating three essential clues and the treasure room itself. This guide will walk you through finding all the clues and completing A Hidden Hoard in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
How to Trigger A Hidden Hoard Quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
To trigger the A Hidden Hoard side quest, you will need to interact with the notice board in the Wharf Crossing North section of Minrathous. There is even a fast travel point in this region and to the north of that, you will find this notice board.
Finding the First Clue
The first objective requires you to reach the trail location. This is very close to the noticeboard area, and all you need to do is take the road and continue walking. To the right, you’ll find a shop with a red neon sign above.
The table on the left side will contain a note that you will need to interact and progress the A Hidden Hoard side quest. The first clue will hint at the location of the second clue.

Finding the Second Clue
To reach the location of the second clue, go back to the noticeboard area. You will find stairs leading to the Side Alley Bridge area of Minrathous just opposite it. Take the left from the stairs and go straight through the entrance, which leads into the dilapidated Tidarion Tower.
Inside this crumbled structure, you will need to climb the platforms and reach its first floor. After that, you will find a note on the left and a treasure chest on your right that gives a rarity increase reward for the Shimmering Sight Charm Amulet.
The second note that you pick up will give you hints regarding the location of the third clue by advising you to visit the old tower by the water.
Finding the Third Clue
To reach the location of the third clue, go back to the stairs that you took opposite the notice board. Once you’re there, take the road to the left and continue down it. You will find another branching path further down the road, and you need to take another left.
Following this route will lead you to the paper seller in the Shoreline Passage section of Minrathous, and you will find notes on each table in this area. Interact with the note on the right side and you will have found your third clue.
The third clue will give you a Heavy Bronze Key along with a hint of finding the room with the Ancient Door containing treasure inside.
Finding the Ancient Door
To find the room with the Ancient Door, you will need to go to the Catacombs. Luckily, this will not be a long trip, as its entrance is right in front of the paper seller.
Go through the small dock passage that connects the Shoreline Passage with the Catacombs by a few parked boats. Take the second left after entering the Catacombs and go through the entrance right in front of you.
Open the chest before taking the left and it will give you a Dragon’s Brace utility belt. Further, go down the road after opening the chest and you will find yourself ambushed by mercenaries who do not want you to go through the Ancient Door. Kill the mercenaries and then go inside the room.

Not Getting Desperate in Dock Town Side Quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Completing the A Hidden Hoard will automatically trigger the Desperate in Dock Town side quest. However, for some players, this is not happening.
In Memoriam, A Hidden Hoard, and Desperate in Dock Town are three-part side quests. If you did not complete the In Memoriam quest, then Desperate in Dock Town will not trigger.
There are two walls that stop you from accessing areas and reaching the Demon of Desperation, who has been luring all poor citizens on Minrathous to find treasure and killing them in the end.
Completing the In Memoriam will remove the two walls and will give you access to reach Demon of Desperation and complete the three-part side quests in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
