If you’ve been searching for that rush brought to life by the F.E.A.R. franchise, you really need to turn your attention to Trepang2. While the name doesn’t roll quite the same off of the tongue, the action that lies within this digital world could give some of the biggest names on the market a run for their money. Give the demo a try if you’re not convinced that this is something that needs to be on your wishlist, especially if you’re planning on taking it on the go with your Steam Deck. But, is it worth the time and money if you’re primarily a mobile gamer?

Trepang2 Steam Deck Performance & Best Settings

If you’re hoping to give this one a go on while on the go, I’m happy to report that Trepang2 runs great on the Steam Deck, with a few compromises. If you’re planning on playing on the big screen with a Dock, you may lose a little bit of the overall performance, but if you follow these settings, you’ll have a game that looks and plays great at a solid 60FPS, with a few dips here and there.

Give these settings a go if you’re wanting to play Trepang2 on your Deck:

  • Resolution: 1280×800
  • Graphics Settings: Medium
  • Refresh Rate Limit: 40 or 60 (60FPS preferred, but lower battery life)

With Steam housing a variety of different games, from cozy farming sims like Sun Haven to big-budget blockbusters like Hogwarts Legacy, it’s astonishing to see what this portable PC can pump out. With an extremely action-heavy game like Trepang2, however, it’s great to see that it will still run at a silky smooth 60FPS.

Is Trepang 2 Steam Deck Verified?

While the early reports are looking and feeling great, some gamers may be distraught to see that the ranking for Steam Deck is currently sitting at Playable, instead of Verified. The reason it is sitting here is that some of the text sizes are rather small, so gamers may need to put on their reading glasses if they’re hoping to see the subtitles. Otherwise, the game is completely playable on the Deck, so get ready to pop some heads in this gory, action-packed shooter.

How Do I Download The Demo For Trepang2?

If you’re looking to test this one out for yourself, I strongly suggest that you download the demo from Steam. This will give you a taste of the action in store, so you can see if this scratches the itch that you’ve been feeling since 2011. Personally, I’m rather excited about this one, and I can’t wait to jump in a bit more to see what kind of mystery plays out before my eyes.

Do I Need To Play Trepang1 To Play Trepang2?

While the name may be extremely confusing, you won’t need to worry about playing any sort of Trepang1, since such a game doesn’t actually exist. It’s an interesting title, for sure, but we’ll just need to see how the story progresses to find out why the title is what it is.

Make sure that you check out more of our Steam Deck coverage in the section below, and get yourself ready for this title by installing a new SSD in your Deck before downloading it.
