Do You Need Manaphy for the Shiny Charm in Pokemon Legends Arceus?

Long story short, yes, you do need to catch Manaphy to get the Shiny Charm. For a full walkthrough on how to do so, check out our How to Complete Quest 66 in Pokemon Legends Arceus guide.

The Mythical ‘mon isn’t the only one you need, though. In fact, you need to catch every Pokemon in the Hisuian Pokedex and raise their Research Level to 10, excluding Shaymin and Darkrai. It is a monumental task. Thankfully, the load is lightened a little by the fact that their Pokedex entries don’t need to be perfect – they just need to be Research Level 10.

To raise a Pokemon’s Research Level, you need to check which tasks are related to it in the Pokedex. For each box you tick for things like catching a certain amount of them or seeing them use a particular move, its level will increase. Return to Professor Laventon to hand in your research and confirm which level it is at. You will need to do this for all 240 Pokemon, including Manaphy.

Once you’ve done so, speak to Professor Laventon again, who will reward your efforts with the Shiny Charm. It is a permanent item that is always on, so don’t worry about equipping it. Its base Shiny rate is 1/810 but increases to 1/585 for a Pokemon if you’ve perfected their Pokedex entry and 1/128 in Mass Outbreaks of that perfect ‘mon.

Good luck, Trainers!
