Days Gone: Will It Come To Xbox One

Bend Studio's new zombie game is out on PS4, but will it come to Xbox One

Exclusivity in gaming can be a bit weird. There are timed exclusives, platform exclusives, PC exclusives, and Epic exclusives. It is one of the weirder aspects of the industry and the wording used often feels more pedantic than specific most of the time.

The game in question this time is Days Gone. This is the latest game from the people over at Bend Studio. You play as Deacon St. John, a biker trying to survive after all hell has broken loose and monsters have started trying to eat people. It is a dark open-world adventure game with some light survival and RPG elements as well as an impossibly large amount of things to do. At the moment, it is only on PlayStation 4.

So, that leads us to the question of whether or not Days Gone will release on Xbox One.

Well, there are no plans for it happening at the moment. This is predominantly because Bend Studio is owned by Sony, they are a first-party studio which means they produce games exclusively for Sony. As such, it is incredibly unlikely that we will ever see Days Gone running amok on other consoles. It isn’t impossible, but it certainly isn’t helped by the rather intense rivalry between Microsoft and Sony. They don’t play well together. Think the families in Romeo and Juliet but with less thumb biting.

It isn’t impossible for a previously exclusive game to appear on other consoles or other places though. Looking at Sony specifically, we have seen Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human all coming to the Epic Games Store. This is actually a pretty groundbreaking occurrence, so it could be that Sony is rethinking their strategies. It is hard to say just what will happen in the next few years, but maybe console exclusivity could start to change.
