So, you have decided to elevate your rank in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with some cool strats to impress your friends in a competitive match and to gain an edge over the opposition? Look no further, Prima Games has you covered for everything you need to start your own Practice session for Smokes in CS:GO.

How to Setup a Smoke Practice Server in CS:GO

We’ve got you covered with this short config file that you can copy and implement into your own CS:GO installation with a few easy steps.

The first thing you need to do is to open a notepad file and copy the below content in it:

// Server config
sv_cheats 1

sv_infinite_ammo 1
mp_autoteambalance 0
mp_limitteams 0

mp_roundtime_defuse 60
mp_roundtime 60

mp_startmoney 50000
mp_maxmoney 50000
mp_freezetime 0

mp_buy_anywhere 1
mp_buytime 9999
ammo_grenade_limit_total 5

// Practice
cl_grenadepreview 1
sv_showimpacts 1
sv_showimpacts_time 10
sv_grenade_trajectory 1
sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10

bind mouse3 noclip

mp_restartgame 1

Without going into too many details, this config automatically enables long round time for all game modes and removes all bots (because who wants to get disturbed during practice sessions?). Additionally, it provides you with a lot of money which you can use to buy all the grenades you need. If you run out of money and need to restart, just type in “mp_restart game 1” in the console. In addition to these cool settings that save loads of time, you will also be able to see the trajectory of all the grenades you throw, their contact points with hard surfaces they will bounce off eventually, etc.

Then, you need to save this file as smoke.cfg (if necessary, save it as smoke.txt and then change the extension to .cfg). Now, move this newly-made file to your CS:GO config folder. It can be easily found on your drive.

Open your Local Files for CS:GO from Steam by right-clicking the game in the library and finding this option in the Manage sub-menu, and go to “csgo”, “cfg” and paste the smoke.cfg there.

After that’s done, boot up CS:GO, open your console, and type “map de_dust2” if you want to practice Smoke Grenades on Dust II, “map de_inferno” if you want to do it on Inferno, and so forth.

The alternative is to click Play, choose “Practice with Bots” and then just pick the map which you want to play on.
At any rate, when you load up the map you want to play on, drop down your console and type in “exec smoke”.
Congrats! Your setup is now complete and you can toss smokes around to your heart’s content.

Use Mouse 3 click to start and stop flying (noclip) mode, so that you can see where your Smoke is flying.
