Can You Turn Off Atreus Puzzle Help in God of War Ragnarok - Answered

Can You Turn Off Atreus Puzzle Help in God of War Ragnarok? – Answered

SHUT UP, BOY!

Ragnarok is here! And it seems the sequel to the rebooted God of War from 2018 is everything we expected and more! More weapons, more over-the-top battles, and more Nordic Gods to kill! Despite all that, the gameplay of God of War Ragnarok is very diverse, so sometimes during breaks from exploration, upgrading equipment, and all that action, there are even some puzzles to solve.

Of course, if you stay too long on a puzzle, the game will try to subtly give you tips on how to solve it with Atreus’ banter. However, many players like the puzzle elements in the new God of War and enjoy finding the solution themselves – so is it possible to turn off Atreus puzzle help in God of War Ragnarok?

Can You Turn Off Atreus Puzzle Help in God of War Ragnarok?

Why can’t we just press the X button to say “SHUT UP, BOY!” and let the big poppa Kratos think some more? Well, sadly there isn’t an option like that in the game settings. Perhaps that option will be added through a possible future update, but for now, going through all the game options in detail, we could not find the feature to turn Atreus’ puzzle hints off. So you’ll either finish the puzzle quickly, as the game expects you to or get ready to get some unwanted mandatory hints.

If you REALLY don’t want to hear those hints while the rusty old cogs turn in your head, there is one workaround we found out that just might help. It isn’t ideal but it will do the job for now:

  1. Go into Options
  2. Select Settings
  3. Navigate to Audio & Subtitles
  4. Go down to “Dialogue Value” and set it to 0/10
  5. In the same menu, go down some more to the Subtitles & Captions section
  6. Set Subtitles to Off

In this way, you will make God of War Ragnarok a silent movie, and since the subtitles will be turned off as well – you will not be able to hear and see Atreus’ banter. You are now free to figure out the puzzles for yourself, so have fun!
