How to Skip the God of War Ragnarok Intro Videos on PC

Skip the splash screens, boy!

God of War Ragnarok is the latest title from the PlayStation exclusive first-party lineup to join the PC platform, and it’s another fantastic port with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a modern PC release. Like other PlayStation Studios’ titles though, it does have an unskippable opening video which is a bit annoying to sit through on each launch. If you want to save a few seconds and get to the menu faster, here is how you can skip the God of War Ragnarok intro videos.

Skip the God of War Ragnarok Intro Videos

To skip the intro videos in God of War Ragnarok, you need to delete a few video files in the installation folder.

  • Head over to where God of War Ragnarok is installed and navigate to the following folders:
\exec\cinematics
  • In the cinematics folder, delete the following files:
ss_studios.bk2 pss_studios_4k_30.bk2 pss_studios_30.bk2

Deleting these files will save you a few seconds, and get you in the game much faster. It’s a bit annoying that this is the trend for all major Sony releases when it’s usually skippable. What we don’t recommend skipping is the “Shader Compilation” which happens on every boot as well. It takes a few seconds, but it’s worth seeing it complete before getting into your save so that you get a stutter-free experience.

Keep in mind that the video files will likely be restored when the game is updated, and Steam verifies the game files. This is something you’ll have to get used to, especially in the earlier weeks of the game where we expect the developers to continue patching the game.

God of War Ragnarok is one of the best PC ports of the year, and while it has tons of options to tweak and upscaling technology support, you still can’t adjust a few camera settings. Thankfully, you can adjust the FOV in God of War Ragnarok using an excellent tool, and pull out the camera a bit more.
