Can You Trade Genesect in Pokemon GO? – Answered

It’s May, and we’ve got quite a full raid schedule ahead of us. But right now, the Pokemon in the spotlight is Genesect (Shock Drive). This ancient life Pokemon is excellent in both Great and Ultra League in all its forms, but Shock Drive is undoubtedly the best. And for that reason, it’s a great idea to get it on your team.

But can you trade for Genesect? Or are you stuck trying to catch it yourself?

The answer is, unfortunately, no. You can’t trade Genesect in any of its forms in Pokemon GO. There were rumors that Genesect would become tradeable once all its forms were released, but this isn’t the case. Nor will you be able to trade for it through Pokemon Home.

Genesect falls within the unique category of Mythical Pokemon. And this category of Pokemon can’t be traded to others, even best friends, with no exceptions.

Here are all the Pokemon that will never be available to trade in Pokemon GO because of their Mythic status.

  • Mew
  • Celebi
  • Deoxys
  • Jirachi
  • Arceus
  • Darkrai
  • Manaphy

  • Diancie
  • Hoopa
  • Volcanion
  • Marshadow

Mythical Pokemon are some of the rarest in the game. And part of the prestige of having one is having fought and captured it yourself. The only downside is how rarely these Pokemon appear.

If you miss your chance to catch Genesect, there might be another Mythical Pokemon on its way. Check out our theory on whether Diancie will be coming to GO Fest later this year: Will Diancie Debut at Pokemon GO Fest 2023? – Answered.
