Most of the meta is still shifting in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5, and one of the sleeper submachine guns is the Sten. While weapons such as the Type 100 and the RA 225 have been climbing tier lists, Sten loadouts have flown under the radar.
Sites such as TrueGameData have made claims that the base game Vanguard submachine gun shouldn’t be overlooked due to its versatility and accuracy. It may not take over an SMG like the Type 100, but it could easily become a top-five choice for close-quarters players after all the recent changes. This guide will show you exactly what you need to build the best Sten loadout.
Warzone Season 5 – Best Sten Loadout
There are multiple ways to use this weapon which is where the versatility comes in. However, we want to focus on the close-quarters potential for this loadout. Even as a close-quarters SMG, the Sten can still take enemies on at mid-range, which is a major advantage. You can find all of the attachments you need listed below.
- Muzzle: Recoil Booster
- Barrel: SA 65mm Rapid
- Underbarrel: Mark VI Skeletal
- Rear Grip: Taped Grip
- Stock: Gawain Custom
- Optic: SA 32S
- Magazine: 9mm 50 Round Drums
- Ammunition: Lengthened
- Perk 1: Steady
- Perk 2: Quick
Nearly all submachine guns built for close range in Warzone Season 5 will use a Recoil Booster and the Sten is no different. The popular muzzle slot will increase the fire rate at the cost of some control. Because it’s a close-range and aggressive loadout, the extra recoil doesn’t pose much of a risk.
Fire rate will also be prioritized in the barrel slot by equipping the SA 65mm Rapid. Not only will the weapon get even higher DPS, but the mobility will also get a boost. We’ll lose some accuracy in the process, but the Sten absolutely needs a higher fire rate when compared to other options. Damage output is what will outweigh those other weapons though.

The three supporting attachments are all based on mobility and handling. Options like the Gawain Custom Stock will increase aim walking along with control. Then grip attachments like the Mark VI Skeletal and the Taped grip will boost the handling. With all three of them, the Sten has the tools it needs to outpace other submachine guns.
Ammunition is the last piece of the puzzle starting with Lengthened bullets for the extra velocity. Then we add the 9mm 50 Round Drums for the extra capacity. There are no other stats on the drums, so damage isn’t lost or gained in this case. Everything else aside from the SA 32S optic is standard, but that can be changed as well if you need a Slate Reflector.
