Every Fire Emblem game has a unit that’s essentially a wall of metal, and this time they’ve gotten a little self-aware of it. Jade, also known as the “Iron Wall” is a recruitable unit obtained after completing Chapter 9. If you’re charmed by this serene unit with a love of literature, you might wonder what the best class is for her. Or maybe you just need a tank. She’s also good at that. Best Class for Jade in Fire Emblem Engage
I’ll be honest. I like Jade. I’d like Jade even if she didn’t have great stats. But fortunately, she has very robust stat distributions. Here are her base stat highlights:
- HP → 33
- STR → 14
- DEX → 14
- DEF → 18
As for her natural growth rates, Jade is unique. Her stats are fairly equal across the board, which gives her ample room to adapt to new classes. I’ve bolded the stats which will see the best growth.

With these stats on the board, it becomes clear which is her natural promotion: the General. Generals are heavily armored fighters boasting an impenetrable defense and a fearsome offense. It’s also one of the best classes in Fire Emblem Engage.
Let’s just take a look at the General’s Growth Rates:

While Jade benefits from a well-distributed Growth Rate, the General is more optimized. But that ensures that Jade is almost guaranteed to see HP and Defense growth each level, and, more likely than not, to see her strength grow as well.
The General ability, which I consider weak, also works well with Jade. Jade suffers from a lack of movement, but the General’s ability, Swap, allows her to position herself between a squishier unit (and all units are more squishy than her) and an enemy.

Give her the right moves (Resolve+ and Hold Out++ are both excellent choices), and she’ll refuse to go down. For that reason, both Roy and Ike pair well with her as Emblem Rings, as they’ll give her the damage boost and defense boosts that will further cement this build.
