Don’t spam the melee button too much

Don’t spam the melee button. The input might continuously force you to perform a melee attack, and you won’t be able to parry, dodge, or pull off a cool execute shot. If you want to attack with your melee weapon multiple times, you can tap the button once or twice between attack animations. This gives you time to look for blue and red indicators for incoming attacks and dodge and parry when needed. Some of the best melee weapons are fast, so you need to pay attention to how rapidly you tap the attack button.

Look at your surroundings for weapons

When you see weapons being offered in the campaign, in some cases, they are meant to be effective in the next part of the objective. For example, they might give you a Stalker Bolt Rifle, and the moment you progress to the next area, they introduce an enemy that uses snipers.

Dodge when you are overwhelmed

If you see the red indicator, you have to dodge instead of parry. If you feel your timing is a bit off, you can dodge twice to make sure you don’t get hit. If you get hit by these attacks, you might get staggered, and enemies will swarm you with more attacks. It’ll snowball from there until you can get out, or you may use your Righteous Fury ability to make sure you get out.

Execute enemies as a form of defense

Execute enemies as much as possible. Performing executes not only disposes of an enemy instantly, but you also regain your armor and become immune to damage while performing the execution.

Focus on ranged enemies

When fighting hordes of enemies, you might feel engrossed to just melee them until they are all gone. However, some enemies have a ranged weapon or attack that will just shoot you from afar.

When you start hacking and slashing enemies, you might get hit by a ranged attack and get staggered. It’ll snowball from there and bring you down. Make sure there aren’t any ranged enemies, as they are also the most dangerous.

Don’t be afraid to use your healing

Your healing item (Medicae Stimms) only stacks up to two. Each checkpoint might give you another Medicae Stimm if you look hard enough. So you should always use your healing whenever available. You might get a Mortal Wound if you try to get knocked down and have a teammate revive you all the time. It is best to just use your healing item.
