While Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 only has a few weapons available, each of them plays and caters to a specific playstyle. All of them are great as long as you like how they play, but some are objectively better than others. Since there are only a few melee weapons in the game, we’ll rank them all in this best melee weapons list in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2.
Best Melee Weapons in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, Ranked
Power Sword – S Tier
The Power Sword is the most versatile weapon in the game, and it is mostly because of its unique feature, which allows it to change between styles. It has a charged and non-charged style where you can freely change by holding the heavy attack button.
While it is non-charged, it has the speed of a Chainsword and is slightly slower than the Combat Knife. It also has a decent cleave range and amazing combos. While charged, it has a slightly stronger attack power that can deal with sturdier enemies.
One of the Power Sword’s skills is its power thrust, where you can sprint and hit the melee button to do a fast and strong thrust against an enemy.
Chainsword – A Tier
The Chainsword is very similar to the Power Sword, but it doesn’t have the added versatility to swap between different styles. However, the Chainsword is still great when it comes to dealing with single-target enemies and swarms. Since there is no middle ground for single-target and swarm fights, versatile melee weapons are always the best. Not to mention that Chainsword has some of the most grueling finishers in the game.
Combat Knife – A Tier
The Combat Knife struggles a lot when it comes to dealing with swarms, but its fast, rapid attacks make it really strong. It would’ve been at a lower tier, but you can adjust your playstyle when dealing with a swarm of enemies. You can turn off your auto-lock or auto-aim and start using two to three melee attacks and running away. However, it doesn’t feel like what a Space Marine would play like, right?
Thunder Hammer – B Tier
While the Thunder Hammer boasts the highest damage out of every melee weapon, its slow attacks hinder it from being great. The large cleave radius does help to deal with swarms, but once you get hit, enemies can easily stagger you.
You’ll have to pay attention to all the attacks that can stagger you because it stops your attack animation. The same goes for single-target fight, which makes it really lackluster.
Now, pairing these melee weapons with the best guns in the game seems like the next step. There’s a whole arsenal of weapons in the game, so it’ll be hard to choose a favorite.
