The Top 100 PS5 Games of all time
The PS5 has been out for over 4 years already if you can believe it, and it’s seen a host of fantastic games launch on the current-gen console already. But out of all these hundreds of thousands of games, which are at the very top of the pile?
I’ve painstakingly assembled the ultimate list of the best PS5 games, and even ranked them by Metacritic score. So I can confidently say, here are the very best PS5 games ever to have launched on the console. Well, at least according to critics, and what do they know? Still, it’s worth a read!
It’s a big list, so grab some coffee, get some popcorn, and prepare to find at least one or two games that you’ll really enjoy on PS5.
Table of Contents
100. The Forgotten City

Release: July 28, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 8.1
The Forgotten City is a charming mystery adventure game developed on a tight budget. Nevertheless, critics of the PS5 loved the game, deeming it worthy of a very impressive score of 85.
It’s a bit of a niche game that started life as a Skyrim mod back in 2015. In 2021, it released as its own standalone title and, well, just managed to squeak into the top 100 PS5 games of all time (so far).
The story is solid, and if you enjoy mystery games, definitely give this one a shot.
99. Alan Wake II: Director’s Cut
Release: June 8, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 7.4
Classed as a survival horror game, this title sees you dispatched to a small town to investigate the disappearance of a famous author — Alan Wake. This is not your ordinary case, however, as it involves alternate dimensions and all manner of monsters.
There are a lot of interesting mechanics at play, however, most of it plays a bit like a Resident Evil title (if you ask me). But with multiple endings significantly increasing the play time on this one, it could keep you entertained for quite some time.
98. Death Stranding: Director’s Cut
Release: Sep 24, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 8.0
Death Stranding needs no introduction, I’m sure. Norman Reedus leads the cast in this open-world post-apocalyptic action hit, directed by Hideo Kojima. If you know a little about games, that name should ring a bell.
Kojima was one of the minds behind Metal Gear Solid.
Past accomplishments aside, you work as a sort of transporter, delivering crucial supplies to various parties and connecting them to a communications network. Naturally, things soon go awry and you’re led down a compelling story filled with delicious twists.
It’s something of a modern classic, and well worth a play.
97. Jusant
Release: Oct 31, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 7.6
Jusant didn’t exactly light the sales charts on fire, despite drawing critical acclaim and delighting users and fans of Don’t Nod, the popular indie developer. Some speculate this is due to poor launch timing, as a lot of bigger games launched around the same time.
That said, this 3D puzzle platformer offers a fun time as you try to climb your way to the top of a tower through various biomes with their own unique challenges.
The controls are good, and the theme is fun, but there are better games out there. It’s worth a go if you have a soft spot for platformers though.
96. Warframe
Release: Nov 12, 2013
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 7.1
Warframe is a pretty old game to be on this list. It’s a looter shooter MMO title that launched way back in 2013. It scored as low as 64 on PC, and its user score also seems to suggest that it’s just not that good.
However, there’s a bit of a caveat with online games. Any time the servers go down unexpectedly, you’ll see a host of players taking to review sites to vent their frustration in a slew of poor reviews.
It’s not exactly fair, so with a critic score of 85 on the PS5, it makes the top 100 best PS5 games. But… it is deserved?
I’ve played a little, and yeah, it’s a fun game. It’s free, too. So if you’re on a tight budget, why not check it out?
95. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Release: Nov 12, 2020
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 7.6
Miles Morales is an amazing game, no doubt. We could finally experience NYC the way it was intended. Swinging about, fighting bad guys, and following along is a really intriguing story.
Miles Morales did well by finally giving us a great Spider-Man experience, and the next game in the series is even better (and much higher on this list).
Fans of the franchise won’t be disappointed.
94. Control: Ultimate Edition
Release: Feb 2, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 7.8
Control is a mind-bending action-adventure game that throws you into the mysterious Federal Bureau of Control. You play Jesse Faden, a woman with telekinetic powers trying to unravel the mystery behind some weird stuff in the Oldest House.
It offers slick combat, destructible environments, and a story that keeps you guessing. If you’re partial to weird, eerie atmospheres and action-packed gameplay, this one’s a must-play.
93. Star Wars: Jedi Survivor
Release: Apr 28, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 7.0
A worthy sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi Survivor expands on everything that made the original great—bigger worlds, better combat, and a deeper story.
However, technical issues at launch held it back from true greatness, which is reflected in its slightly lower user score. Still, if you’ve ever wanted to wield a lightsaber and take on the Empire, this is the way to do it.
92. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Release: Oct 31, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 6.6
While critics seem to have really enjoyed the remaster (which finally came to PS5), players weren’t all that keen on buying what was essentially the same game. Sure, it improved on the first release, but dangit, we had to wait twenty years for a FF7 remake. Did this remake really make sense?
Still, it’s the same great game, and if you haven’t experienced the magnificence of Zero Dawn yet, this is the way to do it. You’ll journey through what is essentially a prehistoric world, battling dinosaurs.
Only, the dinosaurs are robots and there’s some forgotten history to uncover. It’s very Ark-esque, but in the same breath it’s a completely different experience — and one well worth investing in.
91. Crusader Kings 3
Release: Sep 1, 2020
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 8.3
Crusader Kings 3 simplifies the formulas found in the first titles, making it a way more accessible title. It wasn’t exactly “dumbed-down” though. It simply became the most playable title in this grand strategy franchise.
Take control of a kingdom and deal with all the politics, war, and intrigue that go along with that. And it really is as simple as that.
If grand strategy is your thing, this is pretty much the granddaddy.
90. Return to Monkey Island

Release: Sep 19, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 7.6
This one takes us all the way back to the pc puzzle games from the ‘90s. It’s a 2D point-and-click puzzle adventure game that sees you take control of a pirate and try to finally solve the secrets of this island.
It won’t be for everyone, but it’s a fun, funny game that most will appreciate. It only takes around 10 hours to complete, with an estimated 17-20 hours for a full completionist run. So if you’ve been missing those old titles from our childhoods, definitely grab this one.
Keep in mind, you may want to play Tales of Monkey Island first.
89. Chivalry 2
Release: Jun 8, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 85
User score: 5.5
Chivalry 2 is a multiplayer action game where you can fight with swords, bows, or even chickens. It’s action but with a dash of humor mixed in. It can be frustrating to get started though, as the learning curve isn’t exactly flat.
That said, critics loved the game, and users, seemingly, not so much. But again, that’s mostly due to server issues. You’ll see more of this trend before this list is over.
88. Humanity
Release: May 16, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 7.9
Humanity is a visually striking puzzle-action game where you guide crowds of people through a variety of levels. It blends strategic planning and hypnotic visuals to create a fun experience.
It’s a bit quirky, perhaps. But critics and users alike really enjoyed the game, so you might too — especially if puzzles are your thing.
87. Braid Anniversary Edition
Release: May 14, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 7.6
Braid is a charming puzzle platformer where you attempt to… rescue a princess. Yeah, it’s an old trope, but Braid has a whole lot going for it.
As an Indie title with beautiful pixel art, interesting mechanics, and an engaging story, there’s a reason it’s in the top 100 PS5 games. It’s certainly good enough, and it is an experience every gamer should at least attempt just once.
86. Returnal
Release: Apr 30, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 7.4
Returnal is a third-person 3D action shooter with roguelike elements. But it’s certainly not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s notoriously difficult, giving players a pretty extreme challenge if they want to see the game through to its end.
It’s a fun time, and if you enjoy souls-like games and also shooters, then you’ll probably love this. If you get frustrated easily, however, move along. We’ll find your ideal game elsewhere.
85. Octopath Traveler II
Release: Feb 24, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 8.6
This one’s a weird one. It’s gorgeous, first and foremost. The blend of pixels and 3D is kinda weird, but really stunning at the same time. It’s a JRPG, so you should already know by that whether you want to play it or not.
It features a great story, interesting characters, and overall, I can’t fault it for much. It’s an amazing game that didn’t get the hype it really deserved. Well worth a play if you’re looking for something to really sink your teeth into.
84. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
Release: Aug 25, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 8.1
If you like mech combat games, here’s a strong contender for your buy list. In Armored Core VI, you get to customize your own robots and then take them into the field to do battle. It’s got a ranked PvP system as well and can be quite fun if you’re into this sort of scene.
It’s fast-paced and chaotic, and provides players with a pretty decent challenge, especially in the PvP lobbies.
83. Dragon’s Dogma 2
Release: Mar 22, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 6.4
Dragon’s Dogma 2 was a great idea and, quite honestly, a great game. But it probably had the worst release since Cyberpunk. The game was a broken mess at launch, leading to the user score not quite living up to the critic score.
Capcom have fixed it up since, and it’s a great game with an entertaining story, certainly worth playing if you love big, open-world RPG titles.
82. Moss
Release: Feb 27, 2018
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 8.5
Moss is a charming VR adventure that I’ve never played because I don’t have VR.
Anyway, this game puts you in control of a tiny mouse named Quill. You then go on adventures and stuff…
In all seriousness, what sets Moss apart is that the mouse you control is aware of you. You show up in the game as an entity. So it leads to some pretty interesting interactions. It’s not a game I’d typically play, but it is a great experience for those with VR.
81. Nine Sols
Release: May 28, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 8.5
Nine Sols is a 2D action platformer that blends hand-drawn visuals with intense combat and exploration. Its unique setting and challenging gameplay have earned high praise from both critics and users, making it a standout indie title.
You should definitely check it out if you haven’t yet, it’s a fun time.
80. Star Ocean: The Second Story R

Release: Nov 2, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 8.4
Star Ocean: The Second Story R is a remastered classic JRPG, initially launching way back in 1998. That’s a year after Final Fantasy 7, by the way.
It offers a deep story, engaging combat, and a nostalgic experience for fans of the series. The high critic and user scores reflect the successful revival of a beloved title. If you’re a fan of the series, it’s worth picking up.
79. Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration
Release: Nov 11, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 8.1
Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration is a nostalgic collection of classic Atari games and interactive documentaries. It offers a look at the history of video games, mostly appealing to retro fans.
I mean, it is even technically a game? I guess… it has games in it, after all. Still, it’s one of the top 100 PS5 games, so there it is.
78. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Release: Jan 18, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 8.5
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a 2.5D action-adventure game that blends Metroidvania-style exploration with fast-paced combat. Despite critics and users alike loving this title, which went back and explored the roots of the Prince of Persia franchise, it didn’t do very well, sales-wise.
It did so poorly, in fact, that the development team behind the game was disbanded after its release by Ubisoft.
77. Silent Hill 2
Release: Oct 8, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 9.2
I still remember playing Silent Hill 2 on PlayStation 2. Talk about childhood trauma. The eerie feel they managed in that game was incredible. The remake largely recaptures that, making you fear every corner, every new area, every step.
What an outstanding game. The user score speaks for itself. If you’re even remotely interested in horror, this is one game you absolutely have to play.
76. Tactics Ogre: Reborn
Release: Nov 11, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 7.6
Another trip down nostalgia lane! Again, I fondly remember sinking countless hours into Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen on the SNES. So when a new entry to the series was announced, I was pretty excited.
The game did not disappoint. Veterans of the series had a blast, while newer users did find the learning curve a little steep. It’s a tactical grid-based RPG game, and it’s bags of fun if you like that sort of thing.
It’s essentially a giant chess match, and if you’re a fan of strategy games, you should definitely give it a go.
75. Cult of the Lamb
Release: Aug 11, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 7.9
This is another pretty weird game. I’ll explain. You’re a possessed lamb who forms a cult and battles enemies. There, told you it was weird.
It’s a roguelite where you need to roam around and recruit other animals to your cult. Then you battle rival cults and non-believers and when you die, it starts over again. It got a warm reception from players and critics alike, so it’s worth a second look, if nothing else.
74. Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Release: Nov 10, 2020
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 8.2
This is the first Yakuza game to feature Ichiban Kasuga, and it strays away from the formulas of its predecessors. Instead of a beat-em-up style combat system, this title utilizes a turn-based RPG style of combat.
It was well received by both critics and gamers though, but is it your type of game? It’s an RPG, yes, but it’s goofy. It’s funny, but the humor is a little out there. If you enjoy slapstick, you’ll love this game. But serious gamers should probably give this one a pass.
73. Unicorn Overlord
Release: Mar 8, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 8.3
Unicorn Overlord is a tactical RPG set in a fantasy universe. It’s got some pretty detailed battle systems and great visuals. Add a good story to the mix, and you’ve got a surprisingly good game, despite the admittedly odd name.
If you have a soft spot for tactics and RPG’s, you’ll enjoy Unicorn Overlord.
72. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time
Release: Oct 2, 2020
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 8.0
You have no idea how long some of us waited for this game. The name is apt, it launched a whopping 22 years after the third entry in the series. And it’s every bit as fun.
It’s a 3D platformer that embraced the goofier side of things, with funny dialogue and silly animations. But it has a really addictive gameplay loop and most importantly, it’s a ton of fun. You’ll already know whether this one’s for you or not, so give it a go already!
71. Tunic
Release: Mar 16, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 7.9
Tunic is an isometric action-adventure game that draws inspiration from classic Zelda titles. With its charming visuals and cryptic puzzles, it is a pretty intriguing game. It has quite the following, as well.
I’ll be honest, I’ve never played it, so I can’t really recommend it either way. If you enjoyed the Zelda titles, you’ll probably like it.
70. Diablo IV

Release: Jun 6, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 86
User score: 2.5
Remember when I said we’d see a trend emerge? Wait, you aren’t skipping over all of this, are you?
Anyway, here’s another victim of Online gameplay. Despite being a fantastic game with a massive following, Diablo VI has the poorest user rating on this list. And truth be told, it’s not a reflection of the game.
Every time servers go down or controversy happens, upset users flock to review sites to voice their displeasure. Anyway, the game itself is good. If you liked the third entry in the series, you’ll like this one, too, most likely. It builds on and improves the formula first found in it’s predecessor.
Personally, I still think OG Diablo was the best entry in the series by a long way.
69. Tales of Arise
Release: Sep 10, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 8.3
Tales of Arise is a visually stunning JRPG with a great story filled with rich characterization and dynamic combat. It provides us with an immersive world that really hooks the player and keeps them there.
If you’re a fan of RPG games in general, you’ll enjoy this one as much as any.
68. The Making of Karateka
Release: Aug 29, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 7.0
Okay, who slipped a documentary into the pile here? Yeah, this is a documentary-style game that explores the making of the classic game, Karateka. Don’t recognize the name? You’re a karate guy in a white gi who fights bad guys across different levels.
Eh, the screenshot alone should toggle the memory.
Anyway, this game dives into the making of that game. It’s an odd concept, sure, but one that critics certainly enjoyed. It’s something worth experiencing, but I don’t think there’s a huge demand for “docugames” just yet.
Still better than Banana.
67. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
Release: Sep 26, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 8.1
This is an expansion, not a game. But it does show just how far Cyberpunk has come. After a dismal launch of what could hardly be called a game at the time, it rose so much that it’s expansion pack is among the top 100 PS5 games.
It’s an open-world RPG that features a deep, rich story and plenty of interesting characters that players will fall in love with. After those initial struggles were smoothed over, it’s become what is probably one of the best RPGs of our time.
Did I mention it’s all cyberpunk? Yeah, if you want a Skyrim with swords and dragons, move on.
66. Chicory: A Colorful Tale
Release: Jun 10, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 7.5
This is a charming little adventure game with a low amount of reviews, potentially contributing to its placement here. Still, here it is, and it’s a pretty cozy, heartwarming little puzzle adventure title.
If you enjoy cozy games, this one may be for you.
65. Rez Infinite
Release: Oct 13, 2016
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 7.4
Rez Infinite is a psychedelic rail shooter that combines music and visuals into a synesthetic experience. It has VR support and offers a unique sensory experience.
It’s a wild game, and it kinda reminds me of the roller-coaster shooter minigame in the golden saucer of the original Final Fantasy 7, so if you enjoyed that, you’ll love this.
64. Inscryption
Release: Oct 19, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 8.5
Inscryption is, at its core, a rogue-like deck builder. Upon hearing that, you might expect something like Slay the Spire. It’s NOTHING like that.
It’s a first-person 3D game where you collect cards and use them to try to navigate the challenges the game world throws at you. It’s all very dark, creepy, and there are definitely some horror elements at play.
An absolute blast if you enjoy the macabre.
63. Destiny 2: The Queen Witch
Release: Feb 22, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 7.8
Yeah, this is an expansion. Does that even qualify it as a game? Well, Metacritic thinks so, so who am I to argue?
This expansion was well-received by critics and users alike, thanks to it being one of the better DLCs for Destiny 2. In case you don’t know, Destiny 2 is a third-person looter-shooter type, and the new player experience isn’t exactly seamless.
It’s worth a try if you like looter shooters, but there are better options available.
62. Monster Hunter Rise
Release: Mar 26, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 8.5
I’ve never personally been a fan of the series, but Monster Hunter Rise is a fast-paced combat game where you… hunt monsters. Hope you weren’t expecting anything different!
There’s not a whole lot of deep storytelling going on here, it’s more about working your way up to hunting the biggest monsters out there, and it’s kinda like being a witcher, I guess. It’s definitely one of the better entries in the series if you’re looking to jump in.
61. Spin Rhythm XD
Release: Jul 9, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 8.1
It’s a rhythm game, so you’ll be tapping away to the beat of electro music. At least, that’s what the description tells me. I haven’t played one of these since Guitar Hero.
Spin Rhythm XD has great visuals and it’s a fun time. At this point, you already know whether you want it or not. It’s a rhythm game, and that tells us just about all we need to know. It didn’t get many critic reviews, but they were impressed nonetheless — as were the users.
Safe to say that if you like Rhythm games, this is one of the best for the PS5.
60. Sea of Stars

Release: Aug 29, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 7.9
This game belongs in the ‘90s, and that’s a good thing. It’s a turn-based RPG with great pixel art and a magnificent story. If you were around in the ‘90s, this is basically just pure nostalgia.
It’s well worth a go if you’re looking to relive my favorite decade, but else you should probably give it a pass.
59. Gran Turismo 7
Release: Mar 4, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 2.5
Gran Turismo 7 saw the return of the single-player campaign, and thank goodness for that. You can finally buy cars, tune them up, and race your way to the top again.
It also has a lot of multiplayer functionality. Also also, you need to be online to play the game at all. And when the servers go down, you basically just have a waste of space on your PS5 that’ll lure you in only to tell you “could not connect” or something.
That’s why the user score is so low. We know this trend by now, pay no mind. If you enjoy the Gran Turismo series, you’ll enjoy this.
58. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
Release: Jan 28, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 8.6
Okay, I feel like this is pushing it, but these are the rankings. What am I to do?
This isn’t a game, but a game pack. You get Uncharted 4 and its expansion, The Lost Legacy. Isn’t that cheating? This is supposed to be “best PS5 games,” not “best game packs” — I digress.
It’s here and we’ll have to deal with it. If you’ve played Uncharted before, you probably already have this one in your library. If you haven’t, then you should probably start with the first title in the series. It’s a great game with a massive following, and these critic and user scores should be all the proof you need.
57. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
Release: Feb 4, 2025
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 8.6
I know, it’s barely launched and yet here it is. Without a doubt my favorite game of 2025 so far.
Kingdom Come 2 is basically a medieval peasant simulator if that peasant got recruited into a night’s retainer and then got beaten and robbed of all his possessions. It’s a first-person RPG like Skyrim, but without the fantasy.
It’s all about realism. Combat is hard as nails (unless you learn the Master Strike and abuse the life out of it). You need to eat, sleep, and put up with quite a lot of debauchery.
It’s an amazing experience, and if you can get past the mandatory stealth missions and the pain of learning the combat, you’ll love it.
You could read my review of it, too, for a better idea of what you’re in for.
56. Final Fantasy XVI
Release: Jun 22, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 8.4
I have been an ardent Final Fantasy fan since FFVII. I basically quit playing at XIII. I tried XV, and couldn’t get past the opening stages. Where has this series gone?
Then XVI showed up, and man, what a game. It totally recaptures everything I loved about the series, but in a medieval fantasy setting that harks back to the early days of the franchise.
It’s a big, sweeping RPG set in a beautiful world in which you need to save the world, yet again. If you like Action RPGs, you’ll love it.
55. Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
Release: Jun 14, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 8.1
Shin Megami Tensei V is a challenging JRPG set in a post-apocalyptic world. It feels like a classic JRPG with turn-based combat and over-the-top characters that you’ll love if you’re a fan of the genre.
It’s a great game with an interesting story and premise set in a high fantasy setting and featuring demons roaming the world. That said, it is surprisingly dark. I wouldn’t quite recommend it to horror fans, but if you prefer your JRPGs on the lighter side, this one may not be for you.
54. Guilty Gear -Strive-
Release: Jun 8, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 7.9
Guilty Gear -Strive- is a fighting game with fast-paced combat and a pretty badass soundtrack. It offers some deep mechanics and online play can be really competitive.
It gives us something a little different from Street Fighter, Tekken, and Mortal Kombat. It’s no Soul Calibre, but it’s decent enough to have sold over 3 million copies, so what do I know?
If you’re into fighting games, you should probably give it a go.
53. The Nioh Collection
Release: Feb 5, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 7.9
What’s this? Another game pack? Psh.
This cheating entry features both Nioh and Nioh 2, games released in 2017 and 2020 respectively. They’re both set in 1500-1600 Japan and you basically play as a Samurai character.
The second title is a prequel. Did I mention that?
It’s a great action RPG with some really interesting mechanics. You can summon other player characters to help you (in the second title) and have AI control them.
It’s definitely worth checking out if you haven’t played them yet. And I mean, two games for one? Why not.
52. Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut
Release: Aug 20, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 8.3
I have a friend who would not stop banging on about this game until I finally played it. I was not disappointed. It’s a third-person action RPG where you fight with your Katana. Yeah, we seem to have stumbled upon the medieval Japan section here.
The combat is deep, the story is entertaining, and it’s well worth a play if you’re into these types of games. The director’s cut includes some quality-of-life changes as well as an expansion pack.
Wait, this is another game pack? Cheaters!
51. Persona 3 Reload
Release: Feb 2, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 87
User score: 8.7
First game packs, now this. Persona 3 Reload is actually a remake of the original (and classic) JRPG. It has better graphics, better gameplay, and is the best way to experience this classic in our modern age.
It’s a deep and satisfying story that you’ll love if you’re a fan of the genre. Well worth taking a look at!
50. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate

Release: Nov 17, 2020
PS5 Critic Score: 88
User score: 7.5
Hey, I spoke about Mortal Kombat just a few games ago. Almost like subconscious foreshadowing, eh?
I don’t know what there is to say about Mortal Kombat. It’s Mortal Kombat, that should be enough. We’ve been button-mashing-bashing each other’s brains out in this franchise since 1992, and here we are with another entry.
If you’re looking for a Mortal Kombat game for your PS5, it might be better to get Mortal Kombat 1, which is now the latest entry in the series. Yeah, I know. Naming conventions went out the window ages ago.
49. Hi-Fi Rush
Release: Jan 25, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 88
User score: 8.9
Hi-Fi Rush is another rhythm game, but action-orientated and packed up in a combat RPG-like experience. I know it sounds really weird, but man, is it worth a play. If you like weird games or innovative games, then you’ll probably like this one.
It’s got a great soundtrack and stunning, vibrant visuals that lean into the genre really well.
Fans of the genre absolutely loved it, so if there’s one rhythm game you might want to try, it’s this one.
48. Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways
Release: Sep 21, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 88
User score: 8.9
Another DLC makes the list! What is this world we’re living in?
Okay, look, DLC’s can be classified as games. Just look at Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. That’s basically an entire game! Is that more subtle foreshadowing? Let’s get back on topic here.
Not only is this a DLC, but it’s a DLC of a Remake. It gives Resident Evil 4 Remake a whole new campaign packed with a new story and a typically fantastic Resident Evil experience.
It might not belong on this list, but it definitely belongs in your library if you have the remake installed there. If not, well, better look into the remake if you’re a fan of survival horror.
47. God of War: Ragnarok – Valhalla
Release: Dec 12, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 88
User score: 8.4
This is a DLC, but it was released for free for owners of God of War: Ragnarok, and it’s huge! It adds tons to the original game and really deserved a price tag, but some developers out there apparently still really care about their player base and want to offer them the best experience regardless of profit margins. Insane.
If you want to know more about the game though, see the top ten list. And there’s some not-so-subtle foreshadowing for you.
46. Deathloop
Release: Sep 14, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 88
User score: 6.8
Dealthloop is another game that didn’t get all that many critic reviews, but those who saw it really loved it. Users not so much.
It’s an interesting game about time loops, stealth, and combat all packed into a pretty stylish world. The core reason that critics loved it is that they didn’t have to play it long-term. It gets very same-old after a while since you’re essentially replaying the same stuff over again.
It’s a cool concept, and it’s worth a look, but if I was rating this list by personal preference, this one would be scratched off for me.
45. Horizon Forbidden West
Release: Feb 18, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 88
User score: 8.0
This one’s simple. If you haven’t played Horizon Zero Dawn, go play it. If you have, play this instead.
Horizon Forbidden West offers more Robot-Dino-Killing fun, with more weapons, more story, and a whole lot more exploration. It’s a great follow-up to a great game, and if you like open-world action RPG games, you’ll love it.
Simple as that.
44. Animal Well
Release: May 9, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 88
User score: 7.9
This little pixel platformer draws inspiration from Mario Bros and Metroidvania games of old. The result is a stunning game that sort of reminds me of Hollow Knight — in that it’s non-linear side-scrolling. So it’s interesting.
Basically, you just walk around and solve puzzles. If you fall on spikes, you get hurt. If an enemy hits you, you get hurt. Get hurt enough, and you die. Nothing complex here.
But sometimes in simplicity lies beauty, and Animal Well proves that beyond a doubt.
43. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Release: Jun 11, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 88
User score: 8.5
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart showcases the power of the PS5 with stunning visuals and seamless dimension-hopping gameplay. Its engaging platforming and charming story provide a captivating experience. The high critic and user scores highlight its quality content.
It’s Ratchet and Clank, what more do you want?
This 3D platformer has you jumping around, fighting enemies with a variety of weapons, and following a rather charming story. There’s also some dimension-hopping going on, but overall, it’s easy to pick up and enjoy.
Everything a 3D platformer should be — highly recommended.
42. It Takes Two
Release: Mar 26, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 88
User score: 8.9
I actually recently started playing this game with my non-gamer wife. What a blast we’ve been having. It’s a story about a couple who shrink down and then have to tackle a variety of challenges, such as fighting giant vacuum cleaners that are mad about being stored away and never getting fixed.
Yeah, it’s that kind of game, and it’s awesome. It can’t be played solo though, so if you don’t have a partner or a friend to play with, it’s okay to just give this one a skip.
41. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
Release: Jun 30, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 88
User score: 7.8
This is another expansion pack, and it’s basically the same as the base game, but with more stuff. So you’ll be hunting more monsters with more weapons and following more story.
Not much more to be said here. If you enjoyed the first game, get more game.
40. The Last of Us Part I

Release: Sep 2, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 89
User score: 7.6
The Last of Us Part I is a remake of the classic action-adventure game, but with better visuals and gameplay. It has an amazing story and intense survival gameplay not for the giant of heart.
It may be a remake, but it’s so damn good I’d put it on this list either way. I love these titles, they’re very deep and will move you emotionally. However, it is survival horror at the end of the day, so keep that in mind.
39. Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition
Release: Nov 12, 2020
PS5 Critic Score: 89
User score: 8.4
Devil May Cry 5 is indeed a title worthy of the name. It features the return of Dante, a beloved protagonist from the series, and has all the fast-paced flash a Devil May Cry title needs to be successful.
In case you’re unfamiliar, it’s a fast-paced Action RPG in which you slay… well, anything that stands in your way in style. It’s a fun game to play, and the story’s not half bad either. Not exactly a casual experience, but most gamers will love it.
38. Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
Release: Mar 30, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 89
User score: 8.3
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is a narrative-driven RPG with a deep story and unique gameplay. It offers great dialogue and thought-provoking themes that overall create a pretty unique experience.
It’s plagued from an isometric perspective and you start off as a detective with a hangover so bad, you’ve lost your memory. Now it’s up to you to piece together the past and find a murderer. It’s a great game, even if it’s a little out of my usual comfort zone.
37. The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
Release: Apr 27, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 89
User score: 8.3
If you have not yet played this game, then you’d better get it ASAP. Okay, well, it’s not exactly a serious action-driven game, for the most serious amongst you.
You play as Stanley, a corporate employee. The rest of the world has vanished, and it’s just you and the snarky British narrator. You get to explore an empty world and get different reactions from the narrator based on what you do.
Once, I spent about an hour in a broom closet laughing at the narrator’s frustration.
If you’re looking for a casual game where you can just blow off some steam and have a laugh, this is it. It’s a game every gamer should experience at least once, it’s that good, that unique.
36. Castlevania Dominus Collection
Release: Aug 27, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 89
User score: 7.3
Hey, it’s another game pack, this time featuring all the classic Castlevania titles. I mean, it’s really good for nostalgia, but beyond that, it’s just a pack of old games.
If you were a fan of them, go ahead and grab it. The nostalgia alone will carry you through. If not, steer clear. They didn’t age well and even though they’ve enhanced the games, there are better games to spend your time on, in my humble opinion.
35. Alan Wake II
Release: Oct 27, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 89
User score: 8.5
This game features dark themes and a mind-bending story. You play in third person through two separate-but-connected storylines, as you unravel the disappearance of… wait a second, this sounds familiar.
Oh, that’s because this game is already on this list!
Yeah, look at # 98. This is just the standard edition. Who knew ranking games by critic score would prove such a headache?
If you like survival horror, get the director’s cut. Why would you even consider the standard edition? Unless, of course, you can get it for free somehow. (Hear me, PlayStation Plus)
34. Red Matter 2
Release: Aug 18, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 89
User score: 7.7
Red Matter 2 is a VR game, so I’ve never played it. It’s a puzzle adventure game and is said to have some really stunning visuals. There are some challenging puzzles too, so if you do enjoy the odd puzzle game and have VR capabilities, this one seems to be at the top of the pile, go for it!
33. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Release: Jan 26, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 89
User score: 8.5
Look at this hypocrite, having enjoyed The Stanley Parable so much and then calling Like A Dragon “not serious enough.”
Hear me out, I’m all for silly games. The Stanely Parable is not silly, it’s thought-provoking and completely different. Wait, we’re talking about Like A Dragon now.
The whole series never really sat well with me. It’s funny, it’s fun, yeah, but it’s a different setup. The Like A Dragon series is more similar to Saint’s Row than it is to something like The Stanley Parable.
So again, like with the previous Like A Dragon game on this list, if you’re into the goofier side of action gaming, you’ll probably really enjoy this title.
32. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade
Release: Jun 10, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 89
User score: 8.4
This is basically the Final Fantasy VII Remake but with some new content and features. I have a very strong dislike for the remake, and that’s because it’s not a remake. It’s a reimagining. Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game of all time, so to call a reimagining a remake was like an insult.
Anyway, petty personal feelings aside, this game is actually really good. It’s an action RPG where you take on the evil Shinra corporation and fight stuff. The story is fantastic, if terribly confusing (why is Sephiroth on screen all the time? We’re not even supposed to know who he is yet!).
If you’re looking for a long, fun RPG, then here’s a safe bet. As long as you view it as a reimagining.
RE-Imagining.
31. Dead Space
Release: Jan 27, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 89
User score: 8.4
To be clear, this is the remake of the original game that launched back in 2008. See, Square Enix, this. is. a. remake.
Dead Space is a survival horror game where you’re dispatched to look for a ship that’s gone radio silent. Yeah, that’s a radio-silent spaceship, what could go wrong? Have these people never heard of Ridley Scott?
Oh, yeah, there it is. You fight Necromorphs, and boy, does that name sound familiar. But these things are somehow way scarier than Xenomorphs. The whole game is scary, and a fun time with a great story to back it up.
Well worth a play if you can stomach the horror.
30. Monster Hunter Wilds

Release: Feb 28, 2025
PS5 Critic Score: 89
User score: 7.3
I know! It practically just launched the other day, and yet here it is. Another Monster Hunter game in which you… I’m sure you can guess by now what you do in these titles.
It’s a big graphical leap from the older titles in the series, but still somehow quite ugly. The gameplay is solid though, drawing tons of players to this fine title. It’s a great game for the action RPG fiend, so if that’s you, you might want to get in on the fun and slay some monsters.
29. Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector
Release: Jan 31, 2025
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 7.5
This is kind of a strategic RPG game, in which you take control of a human mind that’s trapped in a robotic body. You roll dice and assign actions, and that’s pretty much the game. It’s narrative by design and can be quite interesting.
However, this is a direct sequel to the first game, so if I were you, I’d start there and see if I enjoyed it, first.
28. Moss: Book II
Release: Mar 31, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 7.7
A continuation of the first title, Book II sees you back in the VR world to solve more puzzles and interact with Quill some more. It’s another solid entry from a solid developer, and if you enjoyed the first game, you’ll love the second just as much, I presume.
It got a critic score of 90 which, looking at the user scores, might not be all that justified, but it’s still well worth a play.
27. Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker
Release: Dec 7, 2021
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 9.0
Hey, look, another DLC. But this time, it’s for an MMORPG. Final Fantasy XIV is pretty much the cream of the crop at the moment. I’ve sunk a fair few hours in, but didn’t really get dedicated to the game.
I do have friends who play though, and they absolutely loved this DLC. You tell from the user score, that for once, aligns with the critic score. That’s crazy in itself. Who knew that for once, critics actually knew what they were talking about (says the completely self-aware game critic).
I wouldn’t suggest diving into the full kit though. If you’re interested in FF XIV, get the base game first and try it out for a bit. It’s not expensive, and you’ll be able to make a fair judgment on whether you want to continue your adventures across Eorzea.
26. Tekken 8
Release: Jan 26, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 7.6
I still fondly remember the days when Eddy was everyone’s go-to all the way back in Tekken 3. It’s nice to see that the legacy lives on and that Tekken remains one of the best fighting games you can get on the PS5.
It’s good old button-mashing fun if you’re a casual, and more purposeful button-mashing if you’re more serious. Either way, it’s a friendship killer. Play with friends only if you’re sure they’re balanced, reasonable individuals!
25. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2
Release: Sep 4, 2020
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 8.6
Another freaking remake and game pack, but a good one, I’ll admit. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 were amazing games, made all the way back in the late ‘90s and early 2000s when skating got pretty mainstream, these remasters do the games a lot of justice.
If you like skating games, they remain to this day some of the best you can get on the PS5, and the remasters are definitely the way to go if you want to experience these classics.
24. The Talos Principle 2
Release: Nov 2, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 8.6
The Talos Principle 2 sees you solving a variety of challenging puzzles in first person while also exploring philosophical themes. It’s a surprisingly deep game and if you like puzzle games at all, you’ll love it.
23. The Last of Us Part II Remastered
Release: Jan 19, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 7.7
What’s better than the Last of Us Part I remastered on the PS5? Well, Part II, of course. It only just beat out its predecessor by one rating point, but here it is, knocking on the door of the top 20 best PS5 games of all time.
It’s more survival horror goodness and is a direct sequel to the first game. So if these sound like your cup of tea, it’s best to start with the first title in the series.
22. Cocoon
Release: Sep 29, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 8.0
Cocoon is an interesting puzzle-adventure game developed by the mind behind Limbo and Inside. You take control of a beetle and hope through orbs that contain entire worlds as you try to unravel the mysteries of the universe.
Yeah, it sounds pretty far out, but it’s a fantastic game and well worth playing if you enjoy puzzle games. The art style is really appealing, as well.
21. Balatro
Release: Feb 20, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 8.3
Balatro is this weird little roguelike deck-building game that came out of left field to contend for the Game of the Year award for 2024. Not a bad showing for an indie game.
It’s fun and reinvents poker. It’s got a really addicting gameplay loop and is well worth a play if you enjoy poker or any sort of cardgames, really.
20. Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Release: Jun 4, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 7.5
Another Destiny 2 DLC lands in the top 100 PS5 games of all time, and this time in the top 20! That’s pretty crazy, but my prior summary of Destiny 2 stands. It’s a great game with a terrible new user experience.
However, if you have friends who already play the game this can certainly ease the early days and get you up and running pretty quickly.
The Final Shape was well received by Destiny 2 fans and critics alike, and it is well worth a play if you have Destiny 2 but haven’t checked out this DLC just yet.
19. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Release: Oct 20, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 8.7
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 definitely deserves to be on this list. It builds on what Miles Morales did and offers an ever more authentic Spider-Man experience. Swing through the streets of New York once more as everyone’s favorite spidey hero.
Beat up bad guys, and follow a fun and well-thought-out storyline in yet another hit from Insomniac Games.
18. Rogue Legacy 2
Release: Apr 28, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 90
User score: 7.4
Rogue Legacy 2 is a 2D side-scrolling Roguelite with amazing controls, alluring visuals, and a fun gameplay loop. It feels like a bit of a wildcard amongst some of the bigger names at the top of this list, but it does belong.
However, critics may have been a tad too kind, given the lower user score. Still, it’s up here, and claims a well-deserved place amongst the best PS5 games. No qualms from me.
17. Dave The Diver
Release: June 28, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 91
User score: 8.3
Ever wanted to run your own sushi restaurant? What about becoming a deep-sea diver? Well, if you play Dave the Diver, you get to do both.
This pixel art adventure game sees you dive for all kinds of ingredients during the day and run your restaurant at night. The art style is incredibly charming, the gameplay is fun, and it’s the perfect game to sink a few more casual hours into whenever the feeling arises.
Well worth a look if you ask me! But does it belong in the top 20 best PS5 games? Well, opinions are overrated. It’s here and we’ll have to deal with it.
16. Persona 5 Royal
Release: Mar 31, 2020
PS5 Critic Score: 91
User score: 8.7
I’ll just say it outright. Persona 5 is an amazing game. If you have even the slightest bit of love for JRPGs, this is the best one I’ve played since Breath of Fire 4. It’s really that good.
Take control of a high school student and manage your schooling with, well, saving the world, of course. You discover special powers that allow you to see another world where evil dwells, and when something isn’t right in the real world, there’s a very likely chance that the cause is in this other world.
It’s a brilliant game and some of the mechanics remind me of Digimon 2 (you basically capture creates and merge them to create more powerful ones).
If you’re an RPG fan at all, give it a go, you won’t be disappointed. My only slight qualm is that the creature merging mechanics can be a bit tedious at times, and you’ll have to do a lot of experimentation to find the right combos.
15. Split Fiction
Release: Mar 6, 2025
PS5 Critic Score: 91
User score: 8.9.
Another game that was released just recently, and rocketed to the top of the best PS5 games list. It’s knocking on the door of the top 10 at this point, my word!
And it’s well deserved. While I haven’t played it yet, my colleagues who have can’t stop raving about it. It’s another Co-op adventure from the makers of It Takes Two, and if you like co-op gaming and have someone to play with, it’s definitely worth a go.
Not much more to be said. Great game from a reliable developer!
14. Slay The Princess – The Pristine Cult
Release: Oct 24, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 91
User score: 8.5
Slay the Princess is a cult hit, classified as a visual novel, it’s a dark and creepy choice-based game. It’s also part dating sim, but it’s a really good game, all things considered. And The Pristine Cult is one of the best major updates for the game.
I’m not sure I would personally place it among the best PS5 games of all time, but that’s just me. Critics raved about it, as did users. So if you’ve played Slay The Princess but haven’t experienced The Pristine Cult yet, what are you waiting for?
13. Street Fighter 6
Release: June 2, 2023
PS5 Critic Score: 92
User score: 7.5
And there it is, the best fighting game on PS5 ever. Street Fighter 6 sees you take control of both classic and new fighters from the Street Fighter series. It has polished mechanics, great gameplay, and is absolutely worth checking out if you’re a fighting game enthusiast.
Me? I prefer deeper games, so I’ve given this one a pass myself, but the reviews speak volumes.
12. Demon’s Souls
Release: Nov 11, 2020
PS5 Critic Score: 92
User score: 8.4
Why have overly difficult games become so amazingly popular in recent times? I don’t quite get it, but Demon’s Souls is among the legends of this crushingly difficult genre and will test your gaming skills out pretty heavily.
This is a remake of the classic, so it’s got improved gameplay and mechanics. It’s a 3D action RPG and you’ll need to have some pretty good dodging skills in order to master this title. It’s a fun time, but you’ll need to bring plenty of patience, that’s for sure.
11. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Release: Feb 29, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 92
User score: 8.9
The second installment to the Final Fantasy VII remake, Rebirth, is miles better than the first if you ask me. It’s less repetitive, there’s more to experience, and it’s overall a great game in its own right.
It’s taken the re-imagining (NOT remake) to new levels and we finally get to experience the world beyond Midgar. If you’re into RPGs, you’ve probably already played it. If you aren’t, you probably haven’t, and likely shouldn’t.
But it is a great experience. However, you will need to get and play the first one for a start.
10. Resident Evil 4

Release: 24 Mar, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 93
User score: 8.8
Can you believe it? A remake enters the top 10 best PS5 games OF ALL TIME. Does this mean that modern game developers don’t know how to make good games for the PS5 anymore? Maybe, I don’t know. You be the judge.
However, this survival horror title is iconic and it deserves it’s place amongst the best PS5 games, honestly. It features a heart-wrenching story, tense moments, great characters, and basically everything you want from an RPG if it was turned into a survival horror game.
Well worth a play if you haven’t experienced the mastery on show yet. It is pretty scary though, so keep that in mind.
9. Tetris Effect: Connected
Release: Nov 10, 2020
PS5 Critic Score: 93
User score: 7.6
Tetris? Are you kidding me?
If ever there was a game that doesn’t belong in the top 10, it’s this one. Look, it’s tetris — who doesn’t love tetris? But one of the best PS5 games ever? I think not.
That said, this only got 8 critic reviews, so maybe if it had garnered a few more, we would have seen a more realistic score. For now though, it’s here and we have to deal with it. I don’t really have to tell you about the game. It’s tetris with nice graphics, music, and multiplayer modes.
I mean, if you love Tetris definitely check it out. Else, there are far better titles in the top 10 here.
8. Hades
Release: Dec 6, 2018
PS5 Critic Score: 93
User score: 8.6
Hades is an action RPG Roguelike from an isometric point of view. It’s highly stylistic, highly addictive, and is honestly one of the better indie-developed games we’ve seen in a long time. Just look at those ratings, the users almost love it as much as the critics.
Whether you’re into these types of games or not, this one earns it’s spot among the best PS5 games, and you should probably check it out just to see what all the fuss is about. Just don’t blame me when you lose yourself in its charming world for hours at a time.
7. God of War: Ragnarok
Release: Nov 9, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 94
User score: 8.2
Ah man, this is one for the ages. As an old-school God of War fan, I didn’t really “get” this one at first. But in time, it grows on you. You get to see a more human side in Kratos as he cares for his son and tries to teach him to survive.
You’ll fight bosses, they’ll beat you up, you’ll learn their patterns, and you’ll beat them up. It’s still a God of War game then, right? Only it has a great story this time and is about more than simply being the baddest demi-god in the room.
It’s a great experience for both God of War fans and for RPG fans, wierdly. Definitely worth it’s top 10 spot!
6. Metaphor: ReFantazio
Release: Oct 11, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 94
User score: 8.7
Metaphor: ReFantazio is a JRPG with a unique art style and overall really engaging gameplay. It feels similar in style to Persona 5, while also being completely fresh and different. Does that even make any sense?
In the end, it’s a great game and well worth it’s spot here. It just so happens to be the best JRPG on PS5, ever. So if you haven’t yet, definitely give it a go.
5. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition
Release: Oct 15, 2019
PS5 Critic Score: 94
User score: 8.8
Does this game really need any introduction? If you haven’t played it yet, buy it and play it. You won’t regret it, and you’ll spend over a hundred hours in this highly detailed, beautiful world hunting monsters, charming maidens, and looking for Ciri.
You’ll even get to play as her a bit, but as we approach spoiler territory, let me just say that this is one of the best RPG’s you’ll likely ever play.
Me? I prefer Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, but again, opinions are totally overrated.
4. Astro Bot
Release: Sep 6, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 94
User score: 9.2
Astro Bot is a highly anticipated platformer with stunning visuals and engaging gameplay. Its charming characters and innovative levels are expected to provide a captivating experience. The user score, being a future release, represents the current hype.
Astro Bot, the little game that could! I mean, it’s developed by a large studio, but given that it didn’t get the budget many AAA titles enjoy, it’s surprising that it got so high on this list. It ties with the #1 spot in user score!
It’s a 3D action platformer in which you get to meet and rescue a whole bunch of PlayStation IPs. It’s a fun time, it’s a great game, and it deserves to be called one of the best-ever PS5 games.
I mean, it even got the Game of the Year award for 2024. Definitely worth checking out!
3. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
Release: Jun 21, 2024
PS5 Critic Score: 94
User score: 8.1
Look at this madness. Elden Ring managed to snatch both the second and third spots, but the user score doesn’t really add up. That’s likely because a lot of users aren’t straight-up masochists like most game critics apparently are.
But make no mistake, Shadow of the Erdtree is a massive expansion. It’s unfair to even call it an expansion, it’s a full-on 60-hour experience. That’s more than most full games provide us! Should you play it though?
Let’s cover that in the next description, shall we?
2. Elden Ring

Release: Feb 25, 2022
PS5 Critic Score: 96
User score: 8.2
So, Elden Ring is a FromSoftware game. If that doesn’t either excite you or send chills down your spine, maybe you should just get the game and experience it. Ah, I can’t do that to you. Here’s what you’re in for.
The average Elden Ring experience goes something like this. Spawn in, die to a random enemy. Repeat this about twenty times while you get the hang of the controls.
Meet the first boss. Die about fifty times trying to get the hang of it and learn the patterns. Finally, succeed, and launch yourself into a celebratory frenzy as you uncontrollably fist pump and yell “I am the best gamer in the universe.”
Once you calm down a bit and take a sip of your energy drink, you’ll realize that 14 hours have passed since you sat down to play. You’ll head off to a dream-filled sleep about death and Elden ring, and then repeat the process.
Yeah, it’s not everyone’s cuppa. If you don’t like difficult games, stay far away from this one. Else, it’s the experience of a lifetime.
1. Baldur’s Gate 3

Release: August 3, 2023

And the best PS5 game of all time to date is… wait, does it even count if I make this announcement after you already saw the title? Meh.
This is one hell of a game. It takes the top spot along with Astro Bot for the best user-rated game in the top 10 best PS5 games, and it knocks everything besides Elden Ring outta the park.
This is an epic, sweeping RPG with one of the best storylines we’ll ever likely see in a game. It’s going to pull you in and keep you in an addiction headlock until you cave in and spend every waking moment playing.
It features D&D-style mechanics, and an adjustable difficulty setting, unlike Elden Ring. So you can cater the experience to whatever you want.
It’s also received a massive amount of post-game support, with new sub-classes being added quite recently.
If you think of yourself in any semblance as an RPG fan, you absolutely have to experience this game. Even if you’re not an RPG fan, it’s the best PS5 game of all time, for goodness sake. You’ll be missing out if you don’t at least give it a try.
Again, don’t blame if you end up losing weeks of your life glued to your screen. Good luck.
