Where to Find the Callous Glow Ring in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

You’ll find the callous glow ring inside the Gauntlet of Shar’s Treasure Room (coordinates X:-821, Y:-752), which you can access by traveling west of the Gauntlet’s waypoint toward Balthazar’s office and lockpicking the room’s northern doors.

Tip:

The Gauntlet of Shar itself is located in the northwest Shadow-Cursed Lands underneath Thorm’s Mausoleum, and you’ll need to come here to progress Act 2 in BG3.

Running into the room’s center will initiate a battle, so hugging the walls as you approach the door will help you avoid this fight.

Once you arrive at the above location, right-click or select the door and choose lockpick to start the Sleight of Hand Dexterity Check. Since it has a difficulty class of 30, you’ll either need very high Sleight of Hand proficiency combined with buffs like Shadowheart’s Guidance or use luck to get a critical success roll of 20.

Tip:

We recommend using Asterion for all of your lockpicking needs. His proficiency and Rogue class give him quite a few boons that almost guarantee Sleight of Hand success against most locks, short of critical failure.

Upon lockpicking the door, you’ll unlock the treasure room and gain access to three Opulent chests. The chest on the far right holds the Callous Glow Ring, with the other two holding miscellaneous treasures and gold that you’re safe to take if you wish.

The callous glow ring is an uncommon-grade accessory with the Callous Glow buff, allowing you to deal two additional damage points against illuminated enemies. Illuminated creatures can range from those fighting outdoors during the day to those affected by the Blood of Lathander’s passive.

In other words, if you’re in an outdoor battle on the surface, you’ll automatically gain a considerable advantage against your enemies.

Callous Glow Ring Tips

  • The two extra points of damage are categorized as Radiant damage, making it useful against the undead and shadow enemies that stalk the Shadow-Cursed Lands (if you can illuminate them).
  • The Callous Glow Ring pairs nicely with weapons that illuminate, such as the Blood of Lathander mace, allowing you to make use of its buff no matter where you are.
  • Attacks with multiple hits (such as Magic Missle, Scorching Ray, and Flurry of Blows) will apply additional Radiant damage for each and every hit.
  • The Callous Glow Ring’s extra damage will be added to most instances of damage caused by the wearer, including sneak attacks, void bulbs, electrified surfaces, Psionic Overload, etc.

Callous Glow Ring in BG3, Summarized

  • The Callous Glow Ring is in a chest in the Gauntlet of Shar’s Treasure Room.
  • Succeed a DC30 Sleight of Hand roll to lockpick the Treasure Room’s door.
