The Scav Case in your hideout is the main way of gambling for fun in Escape from Tarkov. You can risk a few of your hard-earned items or money to have a slight chance of making millions with one or two amazing items. However, the Scav Case varies a lot, making it almost impossible to know which Scav Case exchange is worth it. But there are also ways to get what you need while adding the chance to profit. All you need is the exchange, and here’s how you can make those Scav Cases worth it in Escape from Tarkov.
All Scav Case Exchanges in Escape from Tarkov
Scav Case Exchange | Time | Rewards |
2,500 Roubles | 40 minutes+ | 1-3 Items |
15,000 Roubles | 2 hour 10 minutes+ | 2-4 Items |
95,000 Roubles | 2 hour 15 minutes+ | 2-5 Items |
1x Bottle of Fierce Hatchling Moonshine | 4 hours 40 minutes+ | 4-6 Items |
1x Intelligence Folder | 5 hours 20 minutes+ | 4-7 Items |
Fence Reputation will lower the time of these Scav Cases.
The Scav Case allows you to get some random items (hopefully valuable ones) by making other Scavs work for you. Apart from the cost of building the Scav Case in your hideout, you are exchanging currency or items for those Scavs to loot some items for you.
There are five options, as seen in the table above. These exchanges will always try to give you items of similar value. However, as most items become less valuable during the wipe, most of these “similar” value items tend to hold less value. This is why players always feel they are losing because 70-90% of the items lose value, but some become invaluable.
These Scav Case options are more structured for players based on their playtime. For example, if you are about to end your Tarkov session, you’ll probably want to go for the long ones like the Moonshine or Intelligence Folder.

Best Way to Use Scav Case in Escape from Tarkov

While the best way to use the Scav Case is to target the three most valuable ones (95,000 Roubles, Moonshine, and Intelligence Folder), some exchanges give you more chances to get what you are looking for.
For example, 95,000 Roubles and Intelligence Folders give you the best chance to get some keys in the game. While the game has several useless keys, a small majority of them are the most expensive items, like rainbow keycards, marked keys, and quest keys like the Cottage Back Door Key.
Because of this, using the 95,000 Roubles and Intelligence Folder exchanges is always worth it. Even if you slightly lose in most exchanges, winning once instantly turns all losses into profit.

Are Scav Cases Worth Building in Escape from Tarkov?

The Scav Case requires the Intelligence Center to be level 2 and the following items:
- 1x Golden Rooster
- 1x Lucky Scav Junk Box
- 3x Bottle of Fierce Hatchling Moonshine
- 4x Roler
- 8x Golden Neck Chain
- 6x Gold Skull
- 3x Bronze Lion
All these items are expensive, especially the Lucky Scav Junk Box, Moonshines, and Bronze Lions. Overall, you’ll spend over 2,500,000 Roubles or more to build the Scav Case. If you aren’t playing the game consistently for months, the Scav Case is definitely not worth it, as you won’t come close to recouping this much money.
However, there are also some scenarios where it is okay to take a loss. Since most items dropped from the Scav Case are “found in raid,” you might find items you need for quests when using it, assuming you aren’t done with quests already. Most players do finish these quests before they get the Scav Case, so it is usually up to you if you need the items with the “found in raid” tag. If you are looking to make money, you are better off skipping the Scav Case.
