Animal Crossing: New Horizons Island Facilities Guide

When you first start up Animal Crossing: New Horizons, one thing you might notice is the new features and quality-of-life improvements that have clearly been prioritized by Nintendo in this latest iteration of the beloved series. Another thing that might catch your attention is the fact that your latest playground as mayor is, well, pretty bare.

You’ll start the game with the following two facilities:

  1. The Airport where you’ll access multiplayer
  2. Tom Nook’s base

Sure, you’ll have access to all manner of essentials just using those two facilities initially, but as you slowly develop the island into a sophisticated travel destination, you’re going to unlock some old-time favorites and see some familiar faces set up shop. You’ll be able to unlock these other Animal Crossing New Horizons island facilities as you progress in the game:

  • Museum
  • General Store
  • Able Sisters’ Tailor shop
  • Campsite
  • Nook’s Cranny

We’re sure that a new entry in the franchise is going to bring some new kooky characters, so it’s likely that there’s going to be new facilities that you can build in Animal Crossing New Horizons that weren’t a part of the older games. However, only time will tell as to what they are! For now, here’s what we’ve got confirmed from our experience with the series and the most recent Direct.

Need a hand with anything else other than figuring out which Animal Crossing New Horizons island facilities will become available over time? Yeah, we reckon we might be able to help. Check out some of these tips and tricks that we’ve put together for aspiring mayors like you:
