Earlier this month, CD Projekt Red unveiled the first glimpse of its forthcoming sequel The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a game that will feature much more expanded areas than the prior Wither game, along with beautiful graphics that stretch for miles and miles. However, though it admitted it’s coming sometime in 2014, the developer stopped short of confirming certain platforms for the title.
But that changed today, as the developer has officially announced that the long-awaited sequel is, in fact, a title for the just-unveiled PlayStation 4.
“After yesterday’s PlayStation Meeting we can finally promise: The Witcher 3 is coming to the PlayStation 4,” said Adam Badowski, the head of CD Projekt Red Studio. “The new hardware gives us the opportunity to create something great. We are able to work with the new console from its birth and this allows our in-house REDengine 3 to push the graphical limits of what the PlayStation hardware can display. The console is fresh and has some innovative solutions that we’re looking forward to using in our game.”
It should be coming to Xbox’s next console as well, though that still has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft. We should have more details soon.
In the meantime, we’ll have a preview of Witcher 3 in the weeks ahead. Who knew that being so bad would look so good?
Of course, we’ll have plenty more on Wild Hunt as we near its spring debut, and you can pre-order Prima’s official strategy guide right now.
